1) That's not an anime shirt. It's got writing on it and a picture of sushi. How is that "anime styled"?

2) That's not an "anime font". It's just normal, like the font I'm typing with now.

Whether you're right or not is irrespective, you can't deduce that she's an anime fan just from her shirt alone.

In my browser, the image of the sushi is cut off. I didn't see the picture of the sushi. Only the font.

And, please tell me again how anime does not have its own styled type font.

I didn't say anime doesn't have it's own font. I said the font on her t-shirt is not anime styled. You could see that font anywhere. I notice none of your examples are in Japanese characters, so it shows how much you know about the use of font in Japanese.

Her shirt had a Japanese character on it with a very familiar cartoonish type font, so I automatically linked it to anime, as most shirts in SA that I have seen with Japanese characters on them are linked to anime or manga. See, it's a South African girl wearing the shirt, whose picture is linked in a thread about ComicCon. So, I made a connection to it based on my own anecdotal evidence. You want to turn a tongue in cheek comment into an entire factual analysis. Alrighty then. You are right. I am wrong. You must be a ton of fun at parties.

Not really. Normal writing and stylised, cartoony writing is obvious to anybody that actually watches anime, except Emjay apparently.

Another thing that I believe defines a geek is their cringing politeness. Whether they're purchasing a new HD monitor from some clerk who looks suicidal or buying a fizzy water or insisting you walk through the door before them, geeks are so intolerably polite and sycophantic that you feel like being intentionally rude to them just to see what would happen.

At a place like Comic Con, everyone is free to be themselves without any fear of ridicule or scorn. And whether you're geeking out or not, that's really kind of nice.

Regardless of what you think of the content of the actual article, this simply a bad article that deeply contradicts itself. It's almost as if the author didn't write any essays in school/university.

But now that you mention it Huisgenoot did a better job at covering the local Furry Con than Sunday Times did covering Comic Con, seems they have more journalistic integrity these days ... who knew?
