Sunette Bridges facebook hate speech case

I wonder what would have happened if Sunetta had written "Crime is bad in South Africa, but thankfully white people are less impacted by it then black people."
The one question I do have is why we dont hear way more complaints and outcry over the fact that youre far more likely to be a victim of crime as a black person in SA? Clearly our government can treat you like dirt and get away with it... why?

But the majority of white farm murders are committed by black people. She was referring to a specific type of crime - the farm murders. To me this is just another Facebook post that got trolled by the PC police. Now there is a whole outcry/media storm which would've never happened if Vinette just kept quiet...but no, everybody always needs to have an opinion about somebody else's opinion.

I hope Vinette takes on the next politician that sings Kill the Boer or implies that land should be taken from the whites by force - just to be fair.

The problem of Sunette's post in my opinion is that it incites hate from whites toward blacks. The facts might not be wrong, but the intention of the post is wrong.

Yes the farm murders are actually committed by other white farmers wanting to get rid of the competition in some mafia conspiracy.

Most of these farm murders are committed by blacks, but that's what happens when around 80% of the country's population is black, makes it a 80% probability right there.

Also what's with all the people trying to make farm murders seem less important?
People have family members on farm, of course that's gonna be their primary concern, don't shoot them down. The only way to solve something is to put focus and resources on it.

If your fight is with murders in informal settlements, take the fight there, instead of sabotaging someone else's efforts to protect their family.

No one's trying to make farm murders seem less important. The objection is to the framing of farm murders as white genocide, and the racist statements that usually go along with it.

Wow, looking at twitter comments, Im pretty disgusted at some Afrikaans people are responding. Mindless internet mob forming.

Without qualification the idea that disgusting responses are from Afrikaans people is problematic. There is nothing unique about "Afrikaans people" with respect to being racist, racialist and so on.

Pretty sure she is referring to the farm murders. What does it matter that she is only concerned about "white murders"? She isn't saying the others don't matter, she just feels strong about her race/people. A form of patriotism no?

If that is so, then she shouldn't have mentioned the "black savages"

(sorry if this has been addressed, i'm just catching up now)

True.

However the black savages thing was uncalled for. It implies all blacks are savages or that black race makes you a savage. Now maybe she meant the murderers were savages, but it came out all prejudiced.
No, it doesn't. It's fair to call murderers savages. What's racist is implying that only black people murder white people. It's pretty safe to assume that a fair amount of the white people murdered were murdered by white people.

It's also racist simply because she mentions race.

+1

Call a spade a spade - get called a racist. FML. This country's people are getting more ****ed in the head by the minute.

This white auntie deserves whatever comes her way, she should be ashamed of herself.

Now back to my downtrodden minority existence.

Still waiting for any evidence in the original story that she was talking exclusively about farm murders.

"The whole drama started when Sunette shared a post on her Facebook page in which she addressed the total murders in 2014 of white South Africans"

Anyone?

Calling a spade a spade is one thing, but inciting hate toward a specific race is another. It's definitely not "calling a spade a spade".
