Its been running for just over an hour on my PC. Current stats:

16% done. 700mb ISO.
Ratio: 87%
Projected size: 525mb
File on disk is @ 80mb...

For a short while it looked like it might manage 140mb. It still wants to run another 6 hours but I'm going to kill it.

In short, there is no way in hell its going to manage 1.4mb. And I reckon winrar on max compression is better time/performance wise.

I've seen that, it was a 3D game with textures, sound and music, the lot, when you looked how much memory it used, it was about 500+MB. But it that case there were algorithms that generated all the content, it's not the content itself that was compressed.

Actually that does work...its called uuencode. (Binary->text encoder) But the posts on this forum are limited to 10k characters...otherwise I would have pasted it here

This is not the fake archiver that was going around a year or two ago, is it? It looks like it compresses files, looks like extracts just fine. But in the background, it's actually just using your original files which you never deleted (because you're just testing, right?). The moment you remove your originals, it can't extract anymore.

That was probably only a mini-image with the necessary DRM information for the game to work, all the other game files are empty. So, you'd never be able to install the game from it.

But other people on the forum that i got it from said they decompressed it with their quad core pc's and it worked!. Ive only got a Pentium 4 so maybe if i upload it someone can actully test it?
