Too many teams will make the competition repetitive and long. You need to take into consideration that Super Rugby in it's current shape is a travel between 4 continents. The time they expect some teams to travel is insane.

We can't expect all of our teams to top the charts every season in and out, that is to be reasonable. No other country would like to see their teams lose and playing subpar rugby. Too many teams, of the same country, will produce more of those results.

The Currie Cup, the Mitre10 and whatever the Aussies are doing or not doing are suppose to serve as the player development platform. New Zealand are also currently lacking players in specialised positions. Plumtree recruited Andries Ferreira for the Hurricanes the other day as a exception for them lacking a player in that position.

Yes.
No derby warm-ups. This just waterdown everything and makes the competition too long. If a team really needs a warmup they can go play anyone not in the competition
No repetitive derbies at all.
Then if there is too many teams for everyone to play everyone else there can be pools or maybe even a second tier competition. With relegation like soccer.

The warm-up games aren't even in season. This one at Cape Town was promoted due to SuperHero Sunday. Normally it isn't even broadcasted or attended en masse.

This is a ladder competition which have already been broken into pools. They already relegated the Western Force, Cheetahs and Southern Spears with no possibility to promote. Not only was this done to have more teams play each other, but the World Rugby schedule was applying pressure, a global schedule currently being reorganised and restructured.

Super Rugby is also competing against other rugby competitions and down south also have league rugby competing against union rugby. Just like the sport in Europe.

A 2nd tier in Super Rugby is nonsensical, where and when are they going to compete? During the week, no, the stadiums will sink and sink quick. The 2nd tier schedule will compete directly against the 1st tier schedule. This when many players are already signed up to participate within their home unions and honour their obligations to other clubs.

I watched the Sunwolves vs Blues game earlier. The game is still on, but I stopped watching. These Sunwolves, hot and cold, in the same game. I never seen a team throw a game like this, it is like they swing straight into Barbarian rugby mode when everything was already working... Coaching and or leadership issue seeping in.
 
Anyone have a reliable stream ( or want a monthly dstv contribution ;) ) ?
 
Another great reffing display. I don't know why I watch Super Rugby any more.

TMO and Ref are both dutchies from the area and known to dislike Sharks, what did you expect. Not that the team is doing farkall to help the situation

I thought the Sharks were unfairly blown in the scrums but they got away with skew lineout balls on more than one occasion and then, oddly, the new Sharks hookers first lineout throw was called skew when it was probably the straightest of the day...
 
The Sharks vs bulls game was rather shît to much kicking fron the Bulls and then the Shark doesn't know what to do with all that free ball and keeps on knocking it, handling worse than school children. So I understand how some Sharks supporters can be upset with the ref, if your team can't catch the ball you need to blame something.
I just hope this nonsense isn't how the Bulls intent to play against NZ teams.
