SuperSonic outage since 12pm, anyone else experiencing the same?

Anyone else having absolute snail speeds today with Supersonic? Also my internet disconnected at 12pm noon. Seems to be a regular occurance.

Yep can confirm mine went out at around 12 as well, came back at 4pm with snail speeds

How is this even possible? Had issues for 3 years and things just get worse. Where is the accountability? Are you also based in Cape Town?

There is a major DFA break in CPT that is causing any NNI in Teraco CT1 to be down.

It's possible because as someone else mentioned, they know they will never be held accountable. If they had a rep on this forum they would be quit after 1 day. Also yes based in Cape Town, Mitchell's Plain for a more exact location

So many words I don't understand but it's more information than my own ISP has told me :) I appreciate you letting us know dude

So MTN have their own data centres. They don't use Teraco to hand over traffic to other networks.

In this case Supersonic is also an ISP even though they are part of MTN. Supersonic has infrastructure at Teraco Durban DBN1, Teraco Cape Town CT1 and Johannesburg JB1.

MTN has links from their own data centres to Teraco to hand over traffic to other ISPs lile Supersonic and Afrihost.

I work for Afrihost and we lost our Cape Town traffic at 12:00 today also. Traffic automatically failed over to Johannesburg as that is how we have it set up but maybe Supersonic does not.

The issue is with a Dark Fibre Africa link from MTN to CT1 or that is what MTN Transmission team has told us.

Thank you for the explanation. Does not seem that they have it set up to divert to JHB as we were down the 4 hours then, I guess we have to wait for DFA to fix the link for speeds to restore? If MTN is telling the truth I suppose. Ai ja, I guess slow speeds is better than nothing at all. Tyvm for the explanation again

Thanks for the explanation. Did they mention anything about an ETA?

Sat on a call centre hold for half an hour. I think this is the final straw for me. I will cancel with Supersonic and go to a reputable ISP

CPT links have just restored now.
Indeed everything seems to be working again, have load shedding now but will check game servers when it's back up. Thank you for relaying all the information to a small brain such as myself, really appreciate it mate

Neighbour had Supersonic LTE for 3 months back in 2021. During that period it worked for 22 hours. They refused to cancel. I returned the router via Postnet counter to door

Despite a Supersonic staff member signing for the router, they would not confirm receipt and tried 11 times to,process the debit order

Neighbour died in December 2022. The estate administrator told me Supersonic still maintain there is a contract. They just won't listen

And.... DSTV were nearly as bad

Yep. Nightmare stuff. An independent regulator needs to step in. It went off again 10 mins ago...
On and off 3 times for the last 30mins. Wonder if they are perhaps testing stuff at the expense of the late stay awakers
