SuperSport clarifies online streaming issue

More ****

“ISPs don’t partner directly with Level 3. Level 3 traffic from the local node originates on the MWEB network so that those ISPs who peer directly with MWEB will have the best experience.”

Are we honestly supposed to buy this BS? Funny how other content providers around the world are able to provide a decent service irrespective of the ISP used.

“ISPs don’t partner directly with Level 3. Level 3 traffic from the local node originates on the MWEB network so that those ISPs who peer directly with MWEB will have the best experience.”

Ahem, as I said.

And...

SuperSport said that the streaming issues encountered last week were down to the implementation of changes on their platform, and the company apologised for the streaming problems on Thursday and Friday.

This contradicts their SuperSport comments in relation with that Sinister person.

Har de har .. we stream stuff from the states using any ISP.
They cannot even get local right.

And they deleted the message. Did they not mention that they do not delete posts on that fotum?

SuperSport communications manager Clinton van der Berg responded to this issue, saying that the SuperSport posting on the DStv Forum was a clumsy – and erroneous – attempt to explain the situation to users. It has since been deleted.

And MC Marietjie stated VERY categorically that NO posts are ever deleted.

Give us a list of your PREFERRED ISPs so that we can start to eliminate possible causes for our pathetic streaming experience.

On Saturday I streamed the Test cricket via a UK site that was relaying the self-same Supersport feed that I could not stream myself!!!

Bottomline... I pay for a premium DSTV service that includes access to streaming live games via Supersport. I don't give a rat's ass who your preferred ISP providers are as it sounds like you are merely passing the buck here. You are all part of Naspers - sort your shit out.

There streaming is even kark on a phone screen so just imagine a flat panel. Can't get hd streaming from monochoice. Bunch of idiots.

I have used many different ISPs and have never had a good experience with super sport... Other streaming services work flawlessly though... I'm still guessing that all the issues originate with super sports crap implementation rather than anything else

"Streaming is best on OUR isp"

This smacks of what Comcast, Verizon and AT&T are trying to do in the US...

Huh, imagine that.

You beat me to the punch. Exactly what I recall seeing. They do not delete posts se voet!

OK, so first Supersport was all like:

SuperSport has dismissed the theory that Mweb customers receive priority when streaming live matches from its website.
Outgoing traffic from the streaming platform is treated equally regardless of its destination.

and then they were like:

We advise users who do experience streaming problems to contact their service providers to ensure that their networks can handle the streaming.

and after that they were all like:

A Supersport representative has advised a change of ADSL Internet Service Providers, especially Afrihost, to resolve problems with its live streaming.

and now they are like:

ISPs don’t partner directly with Level 3. Level 3 traffic from the local node originates on the MWEB network so that those ISPs who peer directly with MWEB will have the best experience.

Full circle?

I thought it was Afrihost's fault.

Of course

Beware of Afrihost if you want the best live streaming, says Supersport

But then

I think this whole issue kinda went out of proportion and looks like SuperSport have clarified now:

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/internet/97761-supersport-clarifies-streaming-issue.html

Just to recap, we peer with Mweb and Optinet locally, so peering with Level 3 locally would not improve services at all, and would probably be less than ideal.

Let's hope this put this whole issue to rest. I'll bet the agent who responded to this forum post is in some hot water now though. Hope they don't go too hard on him :(

and

Did MyBB get permission from Afrihost & Supersport before posting the original article? If so, why did it go out like that and was not clarified?

Well, I can't view live supersport streams... getting this errors.

The live video stream is for registered DSTV subscribers only. If you have your smart card number "click here" to add it to
your profile."
Been busy with supersport support for the last 20 days or so. They reset my account and password every time and if I'm lucky it works for a few minutes, but mostly is just doesn't
