SuperSport SD gets widescreen format

I hope this means less terrible videos on the Supersport website.

I for one am happy! Did not want to let the SD PVR go (but came close to it).

Having 2 viewing environments on 1 decoder is bliss (and now sport in widescreen on BOTH)!

Yah

Does this mean that streaming will also move to widescreen now?

Will this result in the super sport streams also being wide screen, or is that limited by the software and/or hardware used to serve the stream?

Actually I recall the streams being in widescreen already, after my post. So I popped on the Aussie/England game and it is in widescreen. Only they've reduced the size of the picture so it's even smaller than before. It is letterboxed and doesn't reach the edge of the screen on my widescreen LCD...

Getting something like a screen format change right in one go is asking a bit much from Multichoice....

I suspect they're trying to keep the stream size down, because they refuse to invest in a dynamic streaming option...

Subscribers on older TVs that don’t support widescreen format will be able to switch to 16:9 letterbox mode.
Does anyone still have a 4:3 Tube TV?
For quite a few years, shops have stopped selling tube TV's.

Its so much better now to watch the big bash league, the bowler's figures and team logo are no longer cut off, Supersport 1 also looks way better.

Ye seems they want to force u to use DSTV. :/

Yes but it will be even more useless :p

I was wrong with my previous post about it already happening. Only some streams are widescreen, most aren't. And the ones that are are just cropped in any case...:(
