Hi All

I'm looking to complete my setup, and all I need is 5.1 sound.

I need it to hook up to my 360 via optical, my Wii, my DSTV (all via normal white/red), and my PC via normal mini-jack.

Also, Is it worth going for wireless rear? Will the logitek Z5500 do all that I need?

Any recommendations, and places where I can get em in JHB would be appreciated.
My budget is around R5000.

Thanks as always

The Z5500s are popular. They are very powerful. 500watts RMS.

The Z5450s with wireless speakers (rear ones I think) could suit your needs though. They're also powerful. 315watts RMS. They're nearly half the price of the Z5500s.

Both are THX-certified.

I think you would need to choose between Very Load speakers or wireless rear speakers. :p

imo, I would go for the Z5500, you won't believe the sound these puppies make until you have your own. :D

Just remember the z5450's are not entirely wireless as you still need to plug them into a wall socket.

Yeah, those little things are impressive; and you buy them and have money left ;)
Edit: The Z5500 that is....

Do they have optical and 2xRCA?

I know they have optical. Not sure how many rcas though. Damn and I've them at home. Will see if I remember to check for you when I get home.

Thanks guys. I'm almost sold on the Z5500s, but was wondering if I can find them anywhere for under R4500. Otherwise I'll just get from Prophecy.

It turns out they've only got one RCA, but I won't mind keeping the Wii on TV sound.

Any idea how long the cables for the rear speakers are? I'll upload a pic tomorrow to show how long I need them to be.

They are pretty long... maybe 5/10m. The rca you are talking about is the coax connection. You can also get 2xrca-2-stereo connectors to connect the speakers to whatever...

i have z5500's and have had other surround sounds system none of them come close...z5500 ftw..... :)

How do you people know my name? Freaky stuff.

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

I currently have the Z-5500 which are an awesome set. I got them for R2800 brand new, but through a dealer. If you are gonna pay +R4000 for them , I'd suggest you get the new Sony 6.2 Component Sets which go for R5500 and you wont have to upgrade your sound for times to come.

That was a good price, who was the dealer? Rectron has them for R3599
