The supposed cost of R43-million p.a. for the Cape Town stadium is just another example of the smoke and mirrors deception we are being subjected to. The cost of the stadium was R4.4-billion, and even at a very conservative interest rate over a very long term that amounts to approximately R1-million per day just to cover the building costs, not the ongoing running and maintenance costs. Regardless of which way one spins how the stadium was funded (i.e. state, province, etc), we, the ratepayers and taxpayers, ultimately foot the bill.
It's been six weeks now since the last game was held at GreenPoint, in that time it should have taken R42+ million in gate money and sponsorships just to keep itself afloat. Has it? . . .
