Switch 2 thread

I imagine people will rage bait for the Youtube for clicks, with accompanying thumnails and titles.

I see it as Nintendo knowing consoles will get out early and this ensures nobody can ruin it before release day

The thing is, this truly cuts into physical ownership.

1st the Game Key cards and now online registration before use. All I see is a "Welcome to the digital age" where you are fked if you don't have proper internet.

Unless there is information about it that I haven't seen, isn't in just for the console to work?

The update could be a couple Mb's just to get it working. Consoles created after launch would surely not require this.

There will surely be very few people, if any, at launch that wouldn't have the most basic of internet connections

Will see, so far it sounds exactly like PS5/Xbox.

From what I understand, Switch 1 was still allowed for Troops that was deployed as it did not need internet to function, that market not gonna be happy with Switch 2. Also people that dont allow kids access to internet, I know a couple like that, their son (8) is not allowed to play online.

Will have to see how it plays out.

As for source see here

I think Nintendo did a good job with stock compare to the PS5 on launch. I saw in the Netherlands that retailers still have pre-orders open and also pointed out you can pick one up on launch day if you don't want to pre-order, so scalpers almost completely vanish on the marketplace here. I remember it took me about 1.5 years to obtain PS5 and I had to book it from a store and waited for like 3 months here in NL.

PS5 and XS launched in the height of Covid with extreme supply restrictions...you can't really compare the two lol

True COVID played a massive roll. But if I have to compare to Nvidia with the release of the 5080/90, I believe I saw a comment that whole of Netherlands only had 10 - 5090s on launch day. After 5 months now you can buy a card without issue, (still overpriced).

But reason why I said they did a good job, everything was sold out in 30minutes when the pre-orders open up and seems they quickly reacted to it and seems it won't be such a big issue on launch day, so I assume most people will be able to get one that want one on launch day.

Could be that demand is lower than expected as well. In Japan the demand is sky high but Nintendo has been hugely favoured in Japan for a long time. In a lot of EU countries it costs more than a PS5, it's a hard pill to swallow to be honest.

Nvidia is also not planning to sell hundreds of millions of 5080/90s, so the supply will be lower. Nintendo will have a pretty good idea of demand and since they don't have a chip shortage or logistical nightmare to deal with, you should realistically be able to get a Switch 2 relatively easily. It took Sony nearly 3 years to fix the supply constraints of the PS5 after launch.

It will be interesting to see the sales figures once it launches though! If I remember correctly the Switch 1 launch was pretty lukewarm but it built considerable momentum over the years.

I pre-ordered my Switch 2 here in NL yesterday. Still some of the bundles are sold out here. The more interesting part was that the Switch 2 costs 13,5% more in SA taking the exchange rate into account. Yes, I wanted to see if SA will be cheaper because NL isn’t always cheap.

And I’m buying it because I owned my Switch for less than a week when it was ‘redistributed’ to the family.

Saw the small cables I need to solder... freaked out and did this first.

In light of the day one patch, I wonder if there is any possibility of the units being shipped a day early to ensure they arive on time

Thats my hopium thought of the day

Not gonna happen.

Also getting mixed reviews. Some people are stating that they can play games without patch. ie: patch is only for backwards compatibility support.

With all the Nintendo wack a mole takedowns we will only know the truth once we have them in hand. Still think its stuffed up that no reviews can see the unit and give us a heads up. So right now, Nintendo can be the biggest scam artists selling Switch 1 units in a new case and we will not know till we get them in hand.
