Hi All

I was just wandering how MWEB is doing at the moment...(SPEEDS<ISSUEs<FEEDBACK)

I decided to cancell my current 512 account wit DC and switch over to MWEB uncapped home use option but want to make sure IM doing the right thing.......obviously 4meg is better than 512 "But we live in SA" so Im not sure how good the 4meg users are doing.

My Experience with Digichilli was weird...

Speeds were on and off, disconnections, no communication from them etc...

Here is some of my stats from DC, i would appreciate some feedback from all who check out this thread...

Cost involved:
Telkom ADSL line rental 512k: R326
Digichilli monthly EFT deposit: R400 so far (20% discount since Jan 2009)
Total:R726

comparing to MWEB

MWEB All Inclusive
Includes both your uncapped data and ADSL line rental
R899 per month

Speeds general:

HTTP was fairly good in the beginning

downloading say, a youtube video using DAP(download accelarator plus)
Jan:50kB/s+ avg
Feb:40
Mar:35
Apr:20

Torrents were just a nightmare
Using UTorrent 2.0 and Bitcomit a few times
up and down...at the beginning from 5kB/s - 63kB/s

Current avg speeds is 16kB/s

Example: downloaded a 5.24GB torrent
started at 2010/04/12 12:49 am ended at 2010/04/15 10:27

They contacted me and told me that its not working correctly
I should get about 40kB/s + (after hours as its also shaped)

Gaming - Tried left 4 dead 2...a bit laggish but could play without disconnects (Utorrent closed)
Ping was about 300-500ms (internasional Servers)

HON - using SAIX servers very good ping (20 - 40ms)

Countersrike Source (Non Steam) - Keep getting kicked on some of the servers because of high ping

Streaming

Youtube videos - about 2-3min to load (off and on)
Music (Radio channels) - Stuttering

Mail - no probs
Browsing - Had a few issues but not that bad
Skype - Voice only, not bad
IM - Great, a few disconnects

Currently standing on:

Cumulative Totals for April 2010

Combined (Bytes) 40+GIG
40 665 041 828

Yes, move to MWEB, without a shadow of a doubt. Check the subscribers feedback, it speaks volumes. I couldn't be happier. Well mantained network, HTTP flies at full speed, p2p ranges day to day but is generally speed from 9PM-about 8AM. Otside those times roughly 100kb/s. I've done 180GB this month on 4Meg and chuffed. Skype, brilliant. Streaming, youtube: bufferless. Games, no idea. Browsing and mail run at max for me at 3.48Mbps. I was with screamer, horrible... moved to MWEB couldn;t be happier; but thats just me.

What he said, but Ive heard that WoW is not possible and Steam is 300-400 most days, might get better tho but not sure... My P2P has sucked but News Servers (Astra) are fab as well as FTPES going 100% line speed! Wonderful stuff! ^.^

I have Mweb uncapped. My nephew plays WoW everyday over the network. He hasn't complained.

What is needed to join a news server, sorry for the dumb question nut no-one can give me a straight answer... What is the costs involved?

Thanks for all the comments - South african internet is so crap, you need to choose carefully these days.
