Quick question:

I am currently running on a mweb uncapped account, and frankly, the constant throttling and shaping is one of most annoying things in the world.

Since I've seen all the good reports on Afrihost, I'm considering switching over to them, with one small problem, I need to keep all the @global.co.za addresses that have been created on that mweb account.

So now to the actual question: is it possible for me to keep my mweb email addresses without paying for an internet service, or if all all possible to port the server across to Afrihost?

Thanks for the help

no.

You need to keep paying mweb for either a dial up account or a 1GB capped account, whichever is cheaper....

global is a domain owned by mweb, not AH.

Dude, Afrihost is shaping the @#$% out of their current customers at the moment. Stay where you are.

The annoying thing is that I'm throttled to the point where Google struggles to open, and the FNB website takes about 2 minutes to load!! I can't get any work done!!! To top it all off, it's only the 23rd of the month, and now I need to last a week on that!!?? I'm pretty sure I'm paying for DSL, and not 56k dial up speeds!!!

Create new email addresses on gmail.

Set auto-forwarders on the @global.co.za mailboxes so all emails will be forwarded to gmail

Keep the @global.co.za for two months or so, then terminate these.

What planet you on.
AH give me max 24/7 including p2p and I live in the sticks.
What planet are you on?
Unless you have capped account?
The Home uncapped accounts are shaped badly for about 20 hours a day. The business accounts are not supposed to be shaped, but the guys are complaining about poor speeds and also about downloading and streaming.

I am in Centurion with an uncapped account with wife that is on maternity leave that is watching Netflix the whole day on full hd. And I download torrents and nzbs can't say I have experienced any form of extreme shaping.

Be well aware that when things go wrong people complain, when they go right they don't comment. So complaint(s) are likely the exceptions rather than the rules unless there are thousands at once

Ah okay this explains it.
The North received an IPC upgrade a couple of months back and not are as heavily affected, akthough there have been some reports of occasional shapping the last week or so.

However, if you are routing through Cape Town, you are buggered.
We are shaped 18.8% & 6.25% from about 07:00 till about 02:00.

This has been going on for almost a month.

Be well aware that AH admitted that they have an IPC shortage in the South.

Be well aware that im aware. Your sarcasm and fearmongering for isolated issues isnt helpful

Afrihost will shape downloads quite a bit - but browsing will never be touched :)
