Swype vs SwiftKey

Well, Windows Phone & iPhone do not support SwiftKey, so it's Android for life.

Can't use a phone or tablet without SwiftKey.

Let me know when Swiftkey adds the option to not automatically add a space after swiping a word.

I have both, and both are clearly good keyboards, but I always end up swiftly going back to Swiftkey if I change to Swype. It could simply be because I've used Swiftkey for so long that I can't deal with a different layout, but I do find myself occasionally getting exasperated with Swype - currency symbols and are an example that comes to mind. And perhaps I'm just inept at textual input, but I swear Swype suffers from insubordination when it comes to capitalising words.

so I've been using SwiftKey for about 2 weeks now, and to be honest I'm still undecided as to whether it has any significant advantage over Swype, I think the skins make it look very sexy but I feel that Swype's keyboard layout was just a little bit easier to use, with SwiftKey I struggle with a few things like getting the "?" right. I think SwiftKey's predictive text is probably better than Swype's but I think Swype has a better library, this morning SK just refused to accept the word "hell" and kept correcting it to "he'll" (now my spell check in chrome want's to correct he'll to hell :D), so I prefer the ease of correction and adding new words on Swype.

I do like some of the skins in SK and it does look like a very sexy keyboard, but I'm not sure that it justifies the significant price premium over Swype when it comes to my needs. I'll stick with it until the trial runs out and then make a call, although I might give Touchpal a try next (thanks Mekon for the heads up on that one)

I agree, Swiftkey is super sexy :D

Kii is the ugliest thing on the planet, but I use it anyway because it works for me.

I've been trying out Swype again since originally posting in this thread, and it's going quite well. It does however keep deactivating itself every few hours and on reboots as the default keyboard, which is really annoying. Also, the Midnight theme looks good, but all the others are properly ugly. I can't understand how a company can put so much effort into a product and then give the okay for such god ugly themes.

Swiftkey will never refuse something you type - what you type is always an option in the suggestions box. Just tap the word the first time it's not centered and it will enter the definitions library. Hell and he'll is an issue with most predictive systems though so just take care to select what you want manually if necessary.

As for the question mark and other symbols in that popup box, just swipe to the desired symbol after activating the box. It's a nice system and something I miss in Swype.

Having to constantly reset Swype as the default keyboard is driving me nuts. Google reveals that many people have this issue with it. I've actually enjoyed the last two days with this keyboard, but it's back to Swiftkey for me, if only to retain my sanity.

I use swype in portrait mode and swiftkey in landscape. I find it more efficient this way.

Just me i guess...

I'd imagine quite steep - I haven't tried it yet, but it definitely looks revolutionary!

hmmm, 40 bucks for a beta?

I like this comment, yanks

Made In Canada Just because you use the English language in Canada, doesn't mean you're using the English language that we speak and type in the united states. It sounds offensive but I'm serious when i say that this keyboard doesn't speak or type in English. 2 stars because you don't respond to emails.

I also lost interest when I saw the price and lack of free or trial version.

Yeah - Swiftkey Flow = Swype

Oh, just to be clear, it's an optional Swiftkey input style - not a separate app

I don't even use Flow or the swiping in Swype - I like both keyboards just for tapping away with one finger. Swiftkey is all I use though, as Swype refuses to stay the default keyboard.
