Swype vs SwiftKey

Swype has better text recognition in terms of giving you options for each word. SwiftKey struggles if I'm not accurate with my flow input.

Problem is I prefer SwiftKey over Swype. It recognises words better but if you get it wrong it often doesn't give you the right alternative...

Dyslexic thumb perhaps? :D

LOL. No, I just find that Swype has a better margin of error, so if I start swiping a word and miss the first letter but sort of correctly get the rest, Swype 9/10 gives me the correct word I was going for. Swiftkey's margin of error in that respect is a little lower so I land up correcting myself more often. It also auto-adds a space so I have to backspace to change any word, and inevitably the list isn't as good as Swype's.

But I prefer the Swiftkey keyboard overall and have come to the conclusion that it may just be a dyslexic thumb issue and I need more practise with it...

Meanwhile, on the gripping hand: how about TouchPal? They also have slidey-slidey love, as well as a funky feature wherein you blank out the keyboard altogether! (Das Keyboard for the 'droid!)

Tried TouchPal but their swiping was terrible. I tried a single sentence and it didn't get one word correct. Uninstalled after that...

I nearly fell off my chair when I realized I could use SwiftKey Flow in Afrikaans!!

And then I played with it the whole night. :)

At least your typing/swiping is a lot better than Ockiemoto when he is on his cell. But oh boy that man has dyslexia in all his fingers...

A touch screen keyboard is a nightmare when you're a bit pissed. :p

And yet, as conditioned as I am for Swype and absolutely cannot cope with the kark SwiftKey pulls, I've just activated TouchPal and am chatting with it just fine; beyond it being laid out differently it's barely even slowing my discourse down.

Testing once again from TouchPal. Nope, maybe it's just me but it struggles to get the correct word. I've had to correct 5 words already. Okay 6. It thinks that already is either August or ashtray. Not impressed...

I've bought both swiftkey and swype but have been using touchpal since beta days.

Just tried out Touchpal - was not a pleasant experience. Prediction was poor compared to Swiftkey and Swype, the interface is overly complicated and it takes up too much screen space.

Okay, so after a month's trial with SwiftKey I'm back on Swype. Definitely works much better for me
