Swype vs SwiftKey

tried swype. tried swiftkey. smart keyboard pro is amazing! custom autotext FTW!

What about Smart Keyboard Pro do you like so much? Compared to Swiftkey and Swype it basically has no prediction. I gave the trial a go and even after fiddling in the settings menu it was incapable of consistently fixing my typos or separating joined words. Plus it's really ugly...

i can't live without custom autotext. takes a while to set up, but once that's done it's pretty awesome. assign a while sentence to another word (such as xcv, for example) and whenever you type xcv it replaces with that sentence. great for email addresses, common phrases etc.

But most predictive systems are aware of idiomatic expressions, and if I start typing my name I get an autocomplete option for my email address. I don't think most people repeat the exact same sentences often enough to bother with creating some on speed dial, especially if it takes a while.

So after nearly 4 months of being back on swype and feeling frustrated with continually having to fix auto correct mistakes, I've purchased the latest version of SwiftKey and it's so much better and far more intuitive

..while I took an extended hiatus from Swype with TouchPal X and have now returned. TPX definitely has its attractions but, and specially directly compared with Swype, it falls down hard on the alt/long-press options available on the main keyboard. And, being a punctuation nut, it was always a hassle; it's great to be back. And SwiftKey can still suck it. :p

You and me both!!! But I got mine for R10 so I had long full use of it for that price ... but in principle it sucks!

They will give app purchasers a free theme pack. Not sure the point of them, but I guess it's a reasonable gesture seeing as themes seem to be their new business model
