Sybaritic Stupidity

apart from delivery delays, i think they pretty cool. I have bought games and a GFX card from them. It was on a Thursday, I only got it on the Monday.

i've spent a good deal of cash at sybaritic and i will continue to do so.

though what happened to the op would piss me off it it happened to me and would likely see me not shop there again.

The fact that a little while ago we had a thread praising Sybaritic and now this thread shows that they're just a bunch of people that can sometimes make mistakes. You waited for two weeks but got your money back, so no harm done. I've had an irritating experience with them before but they generally have the best prices so I keep coming back... or I did until I stopped spending money on PC stuff.

Have eanyone here tried Comx, There prices look fantastic on most of there stuff. Looks like they are one of the cheapest. www.comx.co.za

I've ordered numerous items from Sybaritic and never had a problem. Even when I've made stuff ups with my order, Graeme was very quick & courteous in getting it fixed.

Delivery delays can happen with any online stores as the suppliers sometimes make mistakes.

+1 for Sybaritic, I am and will remain a loyal customer

I've ordered a truck load of parts from them as well and I have enver had issues. I'd be pissed as well if the above happens, but stuffups and delays do happen, even with good suppliers.

+ 1 Sybaritic

Ok - I take back any compliments/defense, sales service might be good, but after-sales service support is horrid - NEVER again - said item above had to be returned, and this is what followed:

I sent an item which stopped working to Sybaritic on 20100120 via SPEED SERVICES, i.e. 48 hours at most. Item actually stopped working in December - but I didn't want it getting lost over the festive season - and also would rather have had prompt service in January when all suppliers were open.

2010/01/20 - I received confirmation from them that they had the tracking number.

2010/02/10 - they only sent confirmation that they'd collected the item - 21 DAYS later - so much for paying for SPEED SERVICES.

2010/02/19 - they finally decide to book the item in at the supplier - 30 DAYS later.

2010/03/12 - after multiple queries by myself, was the item only ready at the supplier (51 days later).

I expressed my unhappiness with this sort of service - only to be told it was out of their hands - and the suppliers are to blame - even though it took the majority of the 51 days to get the item to the supplier.

Now I'm being told the payment of R47 to return the item to me has not cleared, event though FNB sent them proof of payment (which I get charged for), and the account details they sent me were copied and pasted from their email, which FNB then picked up as well from the initital payment.

Sybaritic pre-sales service is good, but as has been warned by others - their after-sales services is horrid - I will definitely not be using them again.

What a joke, this is their response.

In most cases, suppliers replace defective items immediately. Should the supplier detect no fault (particularly in the cases of intermittent or problems that can't be reproduced on testing), no replacements can be made. In this case, the supplier cited poor user installation for the faulty fuse and did not want to replace it. We faught with them to ensure they replaced the product on your behalf, as well as covered all costs in getting it to and from them on your behalf as well.

We do not build this service into our pricing structure, so you are liable for any additional costs associated for these deliveries to and from us for warranty purposes. The same applies to any shop for a warranty; you take it back to them (send it), you fetch it from them (have it delivered).

With regards to payments from FNB to Nedbank, these do normally take 2 days to reflect and clear in our account and we do clearly mention that we only dispatch orders on clearance in our account. Please take this matter up with FNB; we are unable to do anything about that.

Considering the item only takes three wires - each connected with a screw - can someone PLEASE explain to me poor installation? A installation that worked for five months before giving up. If the problem was a fuse, you'd think a replacement wouldn't be necessary.... also, if the item does have a fuse, its internal, as there is no mention of it in the product documentation.

Its an unfortunate problem for online computer resellers. I am looking at getting into the same business (Yes I know, not another one!) but the wholesale dealers seem to run out of stock all the time, so you can never accurately keep track of what they have in stock, and therefore what you can put on the website.

I also had a problem the last time I ordered from Sybaritic. Never had any problems before that. I ordered a DVD-RW drive. They delivered the wrong model. It took me a week and a half to sort everything out, including refunding me.

After that episode I started looking at more and more online stores. Then I stumbled upon http://www.nivo.co.za. I found that they were the cheapest on almost everything I was looking for (harddrive, monitor and RAM at the time). I've ordered twice after that and had very good service from them, and they were the cheapest. Maybe I was lucky, but the whole process went smoothly.

PS: Just check out their Samsung monitor prices

PPS: The best service I ever received was from Itai at Digital Addiction (hands down).

I've order from Sybaritic Once.

Bought a LCD monitor, was quite a good price. Went and picked it up etc. Almost straight away had issues with the monitor with it switching itself off after a few hours (guessing overheating). I had to pay for them to pick it up, and then they did send it in for repairs etc, got it back, and has worked since. Not bad service, just a bit annoying that it broke in the first place and that I had to pay for the courier services.

I would give my experience 6/10

According to the email I got - they pay for it if it breaks within the first month. (p.s. I also paid for mine - there and back).

On a side note, I have no issue with paying for a product to be sent in - I do have a problem with paying for a product to be sent in via speed services - and it takes over two months to return - and then I'm told its the suppliers fault, even though they sat with it for over 30-days before sending it to the supplier.
