Sybaritic trouble

Send it to me,i'll test it gladly.

I can understand the frustration but what you did amounted to shouting and throwing a tantrum, warranted or not it's very much uncivilized

What's the fault actually?

It supposed to be silent. Silent like the only sound I can expect to hear is the fan noise - witch is isnt!

I have hear the same type of sound before at an old busted switching supply used at a factory I automated a couple of years ago. And guess what, I replaced it because it was damaging the rest of the electronic components on the system!

I am the unhappy client, and I have several witnesses to the fault I'm having. - 2 of witch are IT professionals!
And what's logical to me is that if it works he should have no problem giving me back my money.
I would have bought more stuff from them, but now... NO chance in hell.
I would rather spend more at a place like evetech, and I have, since Sybaritic have not replied to my emails.

And yes I do think swearing was the wrong route but wont regret it because he drove me to that point.

ASUS P8Z68M-PRO
ASUS ENGTX560Ti
Intel i5 2500K
Corsair XMS3 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
1 x Seagate 7200rpm, 2 x Seagate 5900rpm, 1 x Corsair Force GT, 1 x ASUS DVD ROM
3 x case fans.
1 x USB keyboard, 1 x USB mouse, 1 x USB mediacenter IR receiver.

....jah, thats everything that it juices.

Oh and my friend borrowed me an oldish CoolerMaster 550W PSU, worked like a dream!
Also tested with a new CoolerMaster 500W PSU, no problem there.
And tested with a Corsair TX650, and of course - no issues there.
Then I bought a CoolerMaster GX650 PSU, put it in, NO ISSUES!!!

The PC we used to test the stuffy PSU:
ASUS P8P67EVO
Gigabyte GTX560Ti
Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4GB DDR3 1600MHz
Intel i5 2500K
1 x Seagate 7200rpm, 1 x Corsair Force GT, 1 x DVD ROM.
1 x USB keyboard, 1 x USB mouse
And a NZXT Phantom full of fans and lights...

On the other side of this, if it turns out Sybaritic was lying it's the last time I ever buy from them.

I stay in Pta north, its a 80km drive from me, If I go there, and prove that that thing is faulty, Sybaritic will end up owing me even more.

That's just the thing, Graeme realises that it a Hugh hassle, so he forces you to give in, because honestly, who would put a R15k PC in a bag and let a courier man-handle it?? - he simply doesn't care what happens to your property, he made his money so : stuff you client!

I assume you've tested it by just jump starting it with 0 load and then ramping up the load?

thanks for all the trouble you went through, but I went through all that and more sorts of stupid stuff... and after everything, the PSU still made the same noise in a different computer.

In fact, when CPU is OC to 4.2 or even 3.7 the PSU makes even more noise, but when the graphic card gets busy it really starts whistling.

I'm not sure what you mean by this.

I put the PC on, hear a slight electrical noise.
Come into Windows, same noise.
Run a simple windows experience index re-assessment, when it tells me its checking video performance the PSU goes crazy, when it says checking CPU calculations per second, PSU goes almost crazy.

Play BF3, PSU goes crazy when rendering GFX.
After exit BF3, I can still hear the fans blowing everything cool but the PSU's electrical noise goes to minimal immediately after any rendering of GFX stops.

And I have listened carefully to every component in the case, it is the PSU.

Hmmm...sounding more and more like it's coil buzzing under loads, generally when testing a psu I wouldn't stick it in a higher load situation so its foreseeable that it could be missed.

Could you stick it on a board with onboard graphics 1 stick of ram and a hdd and check the difference?

Can anyone help me with this....

Sure.

1. Get your system to them as they request.
2. Get your electricity supply ( Eskom and your 10-multiplug chain ) competently checked.
3. Stop the whining and swearing. Petulance and tantrum-throwing are unbecoming.

Cant do it now seeing that the pigs have it....

Low volume high pitch whine? By low I mean its probably the same volume as a fan, but due to the high pitch you can hear it clearly over everything else.
And you get into windows right? Then... its working... right? So then why exactly are you returning it??

I have had a similar problem with them, just stay away from these idiots. The after sales service is summed up in this post, F the customer

Because this forum has a no under-18 rule, so that we have less botheration by petulant children who have yet to learn their manners.
That doesn't make it relevant to the issue at hand.

I'm going out on a limb here by saying maybe he bought a supposedly silent PSU which turned out to be not-so-silent.
Worst case scenario, something inside the psu is on the fritz, as is evident from his description of the noise, and a similar issue he had in factory automation, as stated previously (goes to show he's not exactly new to electronics).
At best, it's a product not working as advertised, ie not silent- which again, is reason enough for replacement or reimbursement.

Xyler, just for clarification, and out of interest, can you post the brand and model number of the faulty psu, along with the 2 reports you received back from sybaritic, as well as you original complaint upon returning it the 1st time?

If I spent in excess of 30 grand in total at a shop, and this is the level of service I get when something goes wrong, I'd throw a tantrum too.
