Sybaritic trouble

When you received this item ? Was the packaging damaged ?

Nope.
AFTER I paid everything and stock was confirmed "there was a sudden price jump, please pay me this" and then he kept me on a string telling me the next component will come tomorrow or by the end of the week etc...
Received it after he kept me on a string for 2 months, and still split the order in 2 just to get the thing to me.
After that I had to pay for more courier charges.

At the end of the day I had to throw money at him to get my stuff out of him.

What kind of business is this??

You're not getting a lot of support here; so what makes you think your uncivilised tantrum will get you support elsewhere?

At this stage I don't care about support to me.
Word gets out that Sybaritic is screwing with us. - that's all.

What power supply is this a rare one ?

Did you only receive your order that you placed with them after 2 months ?

You feel they are screwing with you not "us"

Yes, in total over the years, he has spent over 30k at Sybaritic alone. It's also not the first time he had to return a faulty product.

Several times.

This specific order that the PSU was in is over R12k.
Cooler Master eXtreme Power RP-600-PCAR Power Supply - 600W http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?products_id=12941

2 weeks ago I spent R18k for 1 PC at a local PC shop - could have saved, what... probably R3k if I bought it at Sybaritic.

4 weeks ago spent R42k on laptops at DION Wired because Sybaritic never came back to me.

- thats just how much Graeme frustrated me.

I've had the same type of "noise" problem with a Asus MB in the past and it proved to be due to that specific combination of PSU & MB. Neither was faulty although the Asus MB caused the same "noise" with other PSU's.

The noise was load dependant and very irritating (in a quiet environment) although not very loud and I was never able to pin its source down to either component.

I'm prepared to believe Sybaritic when they say that can't reproduce the noise and therefore the PSU is not faulty; it's like tyres on cars, some brands are quieter than others.

That's not a silent PSU...

This is a silent PSU:

http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?cPath=73_269&products_id=17531

They do make a 600W version which is what I was assuming you were talking about.

If I built a rig in that price range i'd go for at least a Gold certified PSU,this looks like a Bronzie ( 70% efficiency at load )

Well, maybe it isn't, but it IS advertised as "Super silent operation with intelligent fan speed control (< 20dBA)"
And noise was the issue here.

Also, if a customer is unhappy that a product doesn't work as advertised (regardless of all the other issues here)- doesn't he have a right to return it, within 6 months as per the CPA? I'm asking, and this isn't a rhetorical question, as I'm not a law student or the like.

That description I would assume comes from Coolermaster them self

Now what is silent for you and for me is 2 completely different things

Not sure about the CPA but I do know if there is a fault with a product you have full rights on a refund ...

The complete order was delivered after 2 months.

What I do with the stuff I buy has nothing to do with anyone else.

From a PSU like the one I'm having trouble with, I expect fan noise, especially when its under load. But the noise coming from the unit has got nothing to do with the fan.

Less than 20dBA is less than 20dBA for everyone.

Go and explain that in a small claims court looool to the OP

@OP if its not broken and your pc doesn't want to start up you cannot expect them to refund you because the noise is bothering you is unfortunately not a valid reason and should you take this matter further it will be laughed off

Did you assemble this pc ?

Dude, its coil whine. You admitted you can get into windows with it, and run programs etc etc. Therefore, PSU is working. End of story. Get over it (and maybe grow up a bit while you're at it)

Well if its working and the suppliers says its working then just re-sell it on Bidorbuy or gumtree, at least you won't be out of pocket and if you not happy with the service you received from Sybaritic then take your business elsewhere, more than enuff resellers out there.

They lost their business already. as I said, in the last month lost my R50k worth of business.
