System build noob hits snafu

Yeah I have a feeling some things aren't being plugged correctly. It goes into bios but gets stuck at some points.
 
The DVD being listed as sata 1 above the HD is fine right? Not talking about boot priority.

Found the CPU temp. Its 27 degrees. Woohoo! At least that part of the installation went well :-P
 
The boot sequence is usually under advanced BIOS settings. For now, it doesn't matter, because your HD is new, so has no operating system. The BIOS will look for an O/S, and find it on the Windows 7 DVD.
Just bear in mind that when the "final" Windows 7 comes out, you'll need to do a reinstall - no upgrade path from Win7 RC.
 
yeah now stop faffing about, boot the Win CD and install your OS. :)

This should take an hour from start to finish, PC Built & OS and drivers installed.

yes with keeping the windows RC in mind, partition the HD, give win7 about 40GB for itself and installation programs, keep game installs out of that partition.
Next setup MyDocuments to point to a folder on the other partition after you've created it in admin tools. Effectively this keeps your data seperated from the OS and makes for easier re-installs if it comes to that. Do NOT encrypt drives that just leads to tears in the long run.
 
Good luck with the build but there is a reason people do their A+ certs.
 
Installing win7 now. I figured out the HD error related to the IDE controller being on and no IDE device in the machine yet.

So thus far the only issue is the ps/2 keyboard connector not working.
 
Everything is running beautifully so far. Haven't set up the net yet but I am one happy bunny. Thanks to all those that helped.

Think of it this way - it'll feature well in a future episode of HIMYM: "Kids, did I ever tell you about the time this idiot on a forum advised me to build my own PC"?
