Well today i have a Laptop and when i try logging on(from the welcome screen) i keep getting a dialog box once i log on with a logon message saying:
the System could not log you on. Make Sure you User name and domain are correct, then type your password again. Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case."

I am in safemode as it seems the only way it will even try to give me the user accounts in normal mode it just hangs at Welcome.

Thanx
Peder

If you booted in safe mode, then you won't have network connection, so you won't be able to log on with your domain username and password, you will have to use a local username and password on that pc. Alternatively, you can choose safe mode with networking and then you can log on with your domain username and password.

@Shark there is no domain on this pc... but i will try
Edit: still gives me the same problem...
Though this pc has never been on a domain its a home pc...

@Conrad And even if i click Administrator it does not ask for a password just gives me the same message.

okay, so you have a stand alone pc, in safe mode and when you click on a username to log in with, you get this message?

1. Do you have something installed that logs the pc on automatically?
2. Before you click on the username, press ctrl+alt+del and then log in that way. Administrator as username and no/blank password. If you still get that error, then there is a password on the account. If you don't know what it is, then... ouch

1. Nope not that i know of...
2. I did press ctrl+alt+Del and did try to log in that way the administrator and other account gives me the same problem (even though the other account had a password and i type in the password properly)
3. Whenever i try log in normally that screen as if you pressed Ctrl+alt+del comes up with admin in the username and tells me could not be logged in...

What else can i do it was a factory installed pc so whats the chances it would have a administrator password?

Edit: another thing: It makes as if it logs in (at the welcome screen) and then says saving settings and throws me that message. so somewhere something is happening...

Has a password hint been set? You can get this by clicking on the question mark to the right of the pwd box.

as i explained earlier i have the password to the secondary account... and the administrator account has no password...

I cannot even log in... it logs in, then logs straight out again

Get ERD and boot from that and change the administrator password to Password1

That will meet complexity requirements. I find this works when I have had account issues.

It's 64.3 MB in case that helps.
