Agent Smith cud be feeding out of a msan, in the road ,he must just have a look at his attenuation on his router .

Router stats:

Connection Speed: Downstream 4096kbps / Upstream 512Kbps
Line Attenuation: Downstream 50.9dB / Upstream 27.5dB
Noise Margin: Downstream 9.9dB / Upstream 13.0dB

Attenuation of 50.9dB... eish

That is most definitely not being fed off a MSAN

thats what 4.5km from the exchange will do to your stats. No wonder he cant download anything above 90K/sec on a 4MB line...

I would initiate a claim on Telkom for the last 12 months, as you havent been getting the service you been paying for.

Looks like they have broken It.

In our office one line is down and the other we can't take the divert off.
Our ADSL is up but very slow.

But my home internet seems much better.

I tried to report the fault on-line but it comes back with this.

The service is already part of a network outage. Reference : 65179

I'm in that area and it is working'ish, but mostly broken.

Seems like there is an issue with IP, I can access a few sites, google, gmail and fnb.co.za, but most international traffic is completely dead. Phone line is also not working. I've logged a fault with Telkom and they say they are investigating.

Line speed is still the same though, At what stage will the connection speeds be upgraded to 20mbit or 40mbit?

We know, we have been impacted from Sat 12:00 with zero service until Sunday 12:00 and current service impacts are:
- limited email access, yes limited we can get gmail and business google email services but no access other email ISP's.
- Internet browsing - can get to google.co.za but not to any other sites, not even to Afrihost (our service provider) web-site.
Very strange behavior.

Any ideas as Afrihost have abdicated the support to Telkom?

What other service providers are available in Table View Flamingo Vlei area?

Ps: Telkoms notice board says that we will have medium impacted service from 3 Aug to 18 Aug - 15 days of impacted service.

No change on my router stats.

Looks like only a portion was cut over this weekend, one of our office lines is upgraded but the other not. I was told it would most likely happen this weekend - it was probably too much to do in last weekends window.

I'm just waiting for sales to call me now so I can get our line upgraded. Bayside Telkom shop also was out of stock of Pace routers yesterday, they were supposed to be getting new stock in but haven't yet received any call from them either.

Anybody know if Canal Walk has stock of the Pace VDSL routers?

My 2mb ADSL was changed over this weekend (line was dead for several hours), but now it performs much worse than before the changes. During the day it is fine, but from about 17:30 to 20:30 it looks like this:

I reported it to Telkom on Monday and they replied saying: "Technician has confirmed that problem has been resolved since there was congestion on the dslam", but it is still not working...

Great news :) I see SOMETHING is happening. Could you maybe elaborate what this would mean for consumers in different regions connected to the exchange? Specifically rather, who (which region) will be connected to which MSANs after this upgrade?

I'm quite anxious to upgrade to a higher speed :)

So is phase 2 done now? Can we expect any more periods of downtime?
