Looking for recommendations please.
Looking for a 10" Android Tablet that runs at least Android 8/9, preferably one that can handle an SD card or otherwise has a good amount of storage space.
I have two lenovo 8" tabs, but they can no longer run half the apps I want to run. They can't even run Firefox browser. Same goes for my Mobicel Echo, no Firefox, not even Acrobat Reader anymore.
But I don't want to have to go rob a bank to afford the tablet please. I don't care about brands, I care if it can do the job. Saw a thread here about a Dixon tablet? Specs sound nice, but is it worth something? What else is out there?

Not much for Android, the tablet market is kind of dead, the Dixon is alright

Huawei Mediapad? Check their store out, I think they have some specials running

I've been looking at that one. Do you happen to know of it's OK?

Do you self a favor get this, gearbest is trust worthy, and is shipped via buffalo couriers to your door.Dixon is okay, however the specs are lackluster and won't last as long, app support wise like this one, with shipping and every thing works out exactly the same price maybe slightly cheaper.

Yes Netflix is only 480p but everything else is great. Stock unmolested Android 9. Also you'll have local support. My second sim didn't work and they fixed it for free.
My son cracked the screen and it only cost R700 to fix it as well.

Not sure on your budget.. I got a Samsung Tab A 2019 T515 yesterday. Its for my child, seems to be pretty good thus far.
Seen them go for between 3-4k. There's an 8" version which is slightly cheaper.

also in the market for new Tablet
to replace my Asus Nexus 7
7-10 inch sub R4k if possible

Then go for the teclast m40, the end, at 2.8k currently you won't find any thing in that price range matching those specs, you would literally sell your self short going for the Dixon only to have local warranty and nothing else, and it isn't like gearbest doesn't offer warranty and refund shipping costs

Seriously for the mid range price point it is a beast

I must say Teclast has a good enough website... can't find anything useful for Dixon and the model numbers seem to be recycled a LOT.

I can find no general information or reviews of Dixon devices anywhere. On paper the specs are great for the price but support seems non-existent. What is their track record on firmware updates and device solidity over time?

Lol non of these cheap tablets will get any updates. Very happy with my Dixon still. They fixed my second sim slot for free as well.

No different to the vodaphone tablets then. I'm still snailing by on a "power tab 10" so anything is an upgrade at this point.....

Sons still happy with his, sure it took a month to fix the screen, but it was fixed and going strong.

Teclast has been around since the late 1990's, one of the top brands in China, they aren't a OEM like Dixon which is essentially a rebranded no name brand tablet made to order in bulk.

They have their M series tablet and T series tablets. Basically m10, m20 ect. They do however like to revisions from time to time so instead of just doing an entirely new model number the stick with the old model number add a pro/4G act that way they don't run out of numbers and is less confusing. Revisions is generally 6 or so months apart and often the revisions come with the latest android version as a bonus.

The build quality, screen quality, and generally hardware quality is a 100% better then what ever this no name brand Dixon could ever hope to get and the performance runs circles around them.Basically all their m series and t series tablets have full metal backings and can with stand an EFF strike in front of the union buildings.Comes with custom cases.Their TPU cases comes with harden corners, and better then most top brands so will take a fair amount of abuse.

I basically used my tablet daily for the past year with the TPU flip cover and both don't look over a day old, it is simply just that good.

Since I got my tablet last year I have encountered two issues. One was a system freeze related to the chrome browser and the other MX player.Android is extremely stable very few app crashes if any. Additionally they don't skimp on the hardware.Replying to this from 30+ meters from my WiFi in another room, no issues. The WiFi is better then some top brands. They use latest emmc tech at the time it was using emmc5.1 which was the latest.
Takes about 15-20 minutes to fill the entire 128rom I have.

Now you could listen to the guys here and get the Dixon which has less ram, less ROM, less powerful hardware and pay R700-900 cheaper, and listen to oh it works fine and I have local warranty, oh I can fix my tablet locally or you can listen to some and others in the Chinese tablet thread that have teclast tablets, who have not complained once about their tablets or reported their tablets breaking with he exception of one person complaining about slow scroll speed on the teclast T30.

Just forget the Dixon get a teclast m40 or wait till next year Jan/Feb get the m30pro which literally beats out any thing else for the price/performance.

You order from either gearbest or banggood, take the duty free shipping gets delivered to your door. The end, 6gig ram/128gig ROM and hardware that can play both pubg and fortnite without issue for a couple bucks more is a no brainer, seriously just do it already. Dixon is a complete waste of time knowing you can get so much more for a couple bucks more and it will last longer hardware wise then the dixon.

Teclast beats dixon period.

I can see your reasoning however my only reason for having a tablet is to watch things during load shedding and reading large PDF's. Games are of no concern tablet wise.

Secondly Dixon seems to be an Indian brand rather than a Chinese one and I am on moral grounds becoming concerned about giving the Chinese economy any kind of support (as well as the risk of stealth spyware) so I would be much more interested in buying a non-Chinese brand.

Lol yeah no, company might be registered in india, Dixon that is, but the actual manufacture is in China. Company that makes the tablet is sawink.com.cn. :)

Lol you worried about spyware, My previous tablet was a Dixon ts ms105a, that had adware and what not else installed, the android browser and settings was infected, and kept at bay by antivirus.

Dixon is only a company by name, they manufacture very little and pretty much every thing either originates in China assembled or assembled by dixon.

Which means questionable quality, hardware and cheapest parts. So go right ahead, but do your self a favor, sell your car, tv, cellphone and pretty much any thing else electronic or any thing has that little made in China sticker or die cast print, it has as parts or entire devices originating directly or indirectly from china.

So to be clear you actively ignoring advise because a)your naive to think that if it comes from India it is made by them b) rather get a device because of that intentionally screwing your self over because you are ignorant and stubborn.

Well okay, your money and your stupidity, who am I to tell you otherwise and tell you are wrong. Conspiracy theorist much ?.

Just between you and me, a few years ago like 3-4 years devices in the supply chain was highjacked and adware and spyware installed, whether it was from Japan, China, north Korea or else where, that includes Samsung, huawei, lenovo ect. So assuming a product that allegedly originated India would be at no risk is unfounded and utter daft.

BTW because it is a mediatek tablet well some models now if you have the firmware tools you can dump the ROM, as well as the associated scatter file which reports on every file you have in the firmware, size, date act which can easily enough be compared and would immediately throw out errors if some thing was fishy. So no you can install some thing stealth, especially if you have avast installed which would simple block and block access to network access.

But seriously go ahead do whatever........I am so not going entertain this further.

You seem to be taking something personally.... So save up for a proper samsung it is then. I prefer the west spying on me to the east spying on me.
