Takealot closing down Pickup points?

For me it is convenience as I dont always want stuff delivered at work.
Now I have to strap it to my bike and ride 50km home

Have you ever bought a 2TB harddrive from Takealot?
It comes in a box the size of a bar fridge
Buy stuff from a third party seller and you'll get stuff that comes in just bubble wrap.

Have you seen the size of the lockers compared to the size of the Takealot boxes?
so use your noggin and not for smashing Empty Beer cans.
small items can use a locker, while larger items have a counter/pickup point.

I mean the useless post office/postnet does that already.
why reinvent the wheel?

Tell that to the packers at Takealot
Greta is very upset with the 14 rain forests per year cut down to nothing just so that Takealot can ship items in thick massive brown cardboard boxes

Amazon and Alibaba dont care about the Troll Child Greta, and I dont think takealot does either.
I mean its not like the boxes are made of plastic.

Oh really? All of mine that wasn't directly from TA (preferred) came in a box as does the usual suspects. Not TA, but I did have a good laugh: My Edifier T5 Active sub came in a box while being already in its box and both was literally almost the same sizing.

Looks like my closest pickup point in Wonderboom has closed down as well.

Never actually used the pickup point though. You can reschedule takealot deliveries to suit you so there was never a need for me to use pickup points.

Perhaps there was no need in your area? I've not received an email indicating they are closing down any in my area, perhaps with COVID they were not utilized? So staffing them wasn't viable?

If there was no need, why the long queues? ;)

If they close that Faerie Glen pick up point then it would put a serious damper on my Takealot purchases.

I have no idea :-) I don't live across the boerwors curtain :-)

They recently opened up one literally down the road from me
Hope they never shut it down its amazing having one so close

This is a pain! I used to use the one at Waterkloof all the time. Now the closest ones are in Centurion and Pretoria West.

I may as well start shopping more at other online shops agian. This was a very convenient way for me to shop online.

Loot.co.za offers Pargo pickup and they have one in the same center in Waterkloof.

I'm in the same boat. I bought a significant amount of stuff form them over the past year because of the pickup point convenience.

I suspect that they will be losing sales because of this.

Btw loot.co.za offers pickup at Pargo points. Their delivery can take ages though.

I walked past the Takealot pickup point in Wonderboom Junction over December.

The queue was easily 250 people.

Made me wonder how on earth that is better than just going to a store to purchase an item, or better yet having the item delivered to your door...

Many items are not even available in local stores. Some of us work in offices, and not even always the same office every day, so if the Takealot driver will follow me anywhere in PTA or JHB, then great, otherwise I'd rather use pickup points which allows one to get the item at a time convenient to oneself.

That's my closest one but looks like it's gone. I rarely go that way though so don't know for sure
