Has anyone tried importing from Takealot? How are the delivery times? On the Amazon site it says 15-25 days and Takealot states time of arrival for the 25th day.Is there any chance the product may arrive sooner?

When I ordered my HD555 headphones from Take2 (now known as Takealot) it took about 20 working days.

I highly doubt that the product would arrive sooner than the 15 days.

I ordered another item, it arrived pretty much in the exact date range they claimed.

I've ordered plenty from take2 US and UK. Usually arrives in date span. Once or twice been later, but always got the item.

i've never really been disappointed by them, yes takes a little long for your imports to come
but they come and they try their best if products are unavailable.

What are you ordering?

Might be other places it can be had from (eg. lower cost).

Thanks for the help I was wondering if it always took 25 days to deliver atleast there's a hope it will arrive earlier.

I never had any problems until my last order (3 previous orders). I think the big issue is that they don't notify you about what is happening when your import order is late. I had to email them to find out what was happening with my order, where just one item of four was outstanding, which was due on Monday (other items arrived a week ago). It did only take them about a half hour to tell me where the item was and that it would be delayed by a week or two, though.

I completely understand issues with importing and buying from third parties overseas, but making your clients chase up after you rather than giving them the information first isn't exactly the greatest customer service imo.

Otherwise, I got my previous orders all within the time frame indicated. They just always indicate the last day on their delivery schedule, since that is linked to when the item is late. What happens is that they do shipments with a freight company from the US/UK to RSA. So, your item will go to a warehouse and then go on the next available shipment. The time is then linked to how long it takes to get to the freight company from Amazon/Amazon seller and when the next available shipment is, and so no-one can really predict when in that time frame it will likely come.

I agree. All my previous orders were perfect. The last 2 were late. I had to phone them, mail them... Still waiting for the 2nd order.

Is it possible to some how track or check the status of the imported item?

I've used them a lot the last 18mths and while you can wait up to 6 weeks (longest was actually 8 weeks but that was that damn volcano blowing its top) I find its worth it.

My most recent order was 21 items and it took 5 weeks. They did not charge me extra as the items where rather bulky.

Ordered end of October - still waiting :(.

Supposed to arrive end November - didn't arrive and they have to re-order and then the original waiting period applies again.

When I buy from Amazon and eBay I usually pay import tax or a Customs fee. With takealot (take2), never paid that. So at least you get it for the price specified and won't get a surprise when you collect at the PO.

That's already included in the price ;). Eg. camera for USD180 = R1530 (at R8.50/USD), and the rand was stronger then, R7 something, when I ordered. Full price I paid is R2362. So transport and customs duty is included.

Imported quite a lot of stuff with them, from speakers ( heavy & big ) to little ipad pens.
Takes a while, but I have had a few pleasant surprises where the items arrived almost 2 weeks before schedule, never had a late delivery.

I must however add that this was when they were still known as "take 2'. My dealings with them since they became 'take a lot' is that they seem somewhat aloof, and I've actually stated using other online sites like Kalahari, which I never considered using in the past.
