Takealot is playing dirty

So I need some advice here.

I purchased an electric toothbrush on special just under 2 years ago.
The brush has a 2 year warranty.

The brush stopped working so I sent it back to TAL and chose the option of “repair or replace”.

Without any communication they simply refunded me the purchase price.

Now I cannot replace that model at the seme price 2 years later so this is why I wanted a repair.

When I raised a query I was told that the item is out of stock (of course it’s probably a redundant model).

I know that many suppliers are able to replace a discontinued model with an equivalent current model (mostly just esthetic changes and model number are the case)

However TAL refuse to budge and insist that all they can do is credit my my original purchase price.

How can I take this up further.
They did the same with my Bosch Fridge. Said it is out of stock and gave a full refund. Two days later it showed stock again and 2K markup.

Also you can't repair an electric toothbrush. It's factory sealed. They just didn't want to replace it.
the official way to decommision them is to turn it upside down and smack the steel shaft onto a hard surface so all the insides come out the bottom by the charge port .thats after you have turned it on the charger breaking the port

Yeah and at the same time the spring comes out and get stuck in your eye socket.

How much support were you hoping for when you posted this?

Takealot should just lock your account with them now and block you.

Just glad the braun chargers are fairly standard,I even bought a USB variant, charges all the toothbrushes in the house
I've got at least two differently sized Braun toothbrush chargers so they're not all the same.

Got a Philips Soniccare a few months ago and I'm waiting for it to brush it's way through my front teeth and out the back of my head.

Took me a bit of getting used to after using Braun for so long, but Philips are so much better imo.

Could use the opportunity to upgrade when they having "discounts". Or check at Dischem. They have good prices regularly.
Exactly - the op got a toothbrush for two years for free. Bonus.

It's a little too up market me for me - I mean, a charging glass and a USB charging case?

nope they thought of that ,they tie the spring to a razor blade which is carefully bent and inserted into the housing next to the spring.
My dog chew my Oral-B Toothbrush, so I'll thought I'll open it and see what is inside. No easy way to open it as it is factory sealed.
But here you go. I almost lost my eye and dented my nose with that spring.
