Takealot takes knock after Amazon snub

I've been using Takealot for years for imports. I don't import through anyone else and not sure how I will get products that are not locally sold.

I hope they can sort this out.
 
What a pity - it was a really nice value-add - sure, sometimes import items took long to arrive but it was worth the wait. Sigh! from the article it also appears that they've burnt the bridge - wonder if they flew out to Amazon to try and resolve or did everything via email?
 
Never used the service, so it has zero impact on me. I will continue to use Takealot for new game and preorder purchases because of their reliability.

Seems to be from the UK store. I'd prefer to order from the US one as even the UK one has a huge mark-up.

Nah, not my internet... the site is working now... that error was their server denying access, my internet let me get to their server but their server said I could not come in when I knocked on their front door. They probably had a server reboot or something.

What a kark looking site tho'. Seriously looks like a mom & pops home-job... and it looks like a real ball-ache to actually buy from Amazon via them. Will see if they have stuff at reasonable prices... hopefully their search works for imports as well.

I opened up a myus.com account - works perfect. personal shopper service is great - especially on sites where they block non US cards.

I'm half asleep atm but I can't find what shipping fees are like. There's a pc tower I wanna order, it's approx 6kg boxed I think, standard ATX size etc; but can't find shipping guidelines.

Knock yourself out. I also got an account there, but the shipping remains pretty expensive (depending on how expensive item you buy) , these guys do make their money pretty much with the shipping. My approx is about $130-$180 for a package your size (based on your membership type etc) , delivery in 1-4 days.

So if i was buying an iphone 5, then the shipping would be irrelevant, but if i was buying a R500 ATX case, then well, shipping will kill you.

It was giving me the same error today. Permission denied. Happened on and off so they must have been having server issues.
