I miss kalahari vouchers. Takealot seem to place to many conditions on their vouchers aswell. Raru & loot better up their game.

Takealot's daily deals are pathetic aswell.

Save R1100, my behind! The tablet has been selling for 2999 since it launched, so you only save R100.

It is sold for R3000 at most stores so there isnt much of a saving. South African marketing at its best, just make up an amount that you "save" on a "sale"

The CellC straight up TopUp pushes up the price.

They can keep their cell c sim card. I would rather buy a telkom mobile data sim or use axxess.

The tablet has been listed as R2999 since it was added to the takealot site. The saving is R100 regardless of the cellc deal.

I've seen the same with our black Friday deals every year, they claim savings of 40% but they inflate the price first, so essentially you have a 5% drop parading as a once-in-a-lifetime type of deal!

I think the problem comes in where they stop issuing vouchers because of lack of competition. Which means that they might have less specials, less off everything, including quality of service because there isn't enough choice. Lack of competition is just unhealthy and in general, when companies buy up others, service etc., doesn't improve, they tend to merely become complacent.
Its incredibly short sighted if you think this was their strategy. Their competition has always been against the normal traditional retailers. SA still has a very low % of online buyers and the only way to grow would continue to keep prices low and deliver excellent service.

Except you're not only buying the tablet. You're buying a tablet plus the Cell C deal. Argue all you want, but this is not the same as buying a lone tablet in a shop.

Also, didn't you say you were leaving he site and asked for your account to be deleted?

But you're assuming that other companies don't need to bolster their market share. It's common for most companies to need more customers, but when they don't have choice, they'll have to pay whatever they have to eliminate there is a lack of competition, which there is now.

So, because they are the only retailer of their sort now (others sell fragments and aren't as comprehensive) they have more leeway in terms of what they have to offer to customers. So, no, I don't think it's short sighted at all to assume a company would buy out another to squash competition.

My account was hacked. My publicist issued a statement, guess you didnt get the memo.

I think we need an online store lamentation thread. So this only sticks to vouchers

Ha! Agreed, my apologies.

Those who received vouchers from takealot, mentioned two days ago, have you used them, and if so, would you mind posting the entirety of it so we can check whether it has multiple uses?

True TAL is the only large retailer like this. Raru is a competitor but much smaller. Less competition is almost always a bad thing for consumers.

It's taken from the RRP. So just because others are selling it at discount as well doesn't mean it's not a discount. You get a R1100 discount where at other shops you only get R1000.

I have a question. Gift vouchers are valid for 3 years. If you load it onto your profile as a rand value is it then valid indefinitely or still only for 3 years?

Yeah but some things NEVER sell at MSRP.
