Takealot's daily deals are pathetic aswell.

Save R1100, my behind! The tablet has been selling for 2999 since it launched, so you only save R100.

It is sold for R3000 at most stores so there isnt much of a saving. South African marketing at its best, just make up an amount that you "save" on a "sale"

In all fairness its a poor business model to compete on price. Online retailers need to differentiate in the market eg 1 hr delivery within major centres or specialist products. Online do have the advantage of not incurring costs of brick n mortar stores. But the online % of sales compared to retail is still tiny and not growing at the expecred rate.

Nobody cares. If it's not cheaper than B&M people won't bother. If I have to drive to Take2 to collect I may as well drive to Century City or Bayside to buy. If I must wait 24h for courier and I need it today the price difference needs to be large. But give me a significant reduction in price or a product I can't get in B&M and the other things will fall away.

To be honest, I don't even keep up with prices at B&M and the majority of my tech purchases are online. The beginning of April was the first time in something like 4 or 5 years that I bought a videogame at B&M. I think you underestimate the convenience people have with buying things online and having it delivered right to their door.

B&M actually involves spending money on petrol, then possibly on parking fees, standing in queues, etc. Buying online is just so much more convenient and I'd rather pay a bit more for that convenience. If TakeAlot did grocery deliveries I probably wouldn't leave my house at all.

I can understand that for goods either not available in B&M which is the main reason why I shop online - usually foreign imported goods OR significantly cheaper stuff. When it comes to home delivery-- don't you people work? :)

Well one has to do grocery and pharma shopping anyway. I have free Woolies deliveries but I hardly ever use the service and go to the actual woolworths myself.

It's taken from the RRP. So just because others are selling it at discount as well doesn't mean it's not a discount. You get a R1100 discount where at other shops you only get R1000.

It's really simple... If a person looks at the deal and doesn't know the price at every other store, they will believe that they are saving R1100 because of the advert, when in actual fact they are only saving R100.

MANY people will purchase an item if they believe that they are getting an exceptionally good deal. However in really this is not an exceptionally good deal, it's just a normal special.

So if you were to go buy this tablet with the StraightUp Topup 100 in stores, how much would it cost you?

I also see it is now R3499. According to a Vodacom ad from Oct 2014, the prepaid price for the LG G Pad was going to be R4279. - http://now.vodacom.co.za/article/2014/10/16/october-new-phone-roundup

Voucher Friday.. What A lovely way to start the weekend...... R500 off R200 love it.

I got the same email, but Takealot is asking me to deposit R100 into their account first for release fees and promises to then email the voucher to me.

This merger is starting to feel a bit suspect.

Yes it's a special, as advertised. As I said the discount is from normal price. Whether you can get it at dozens of other places at a special price is irrelevant. Simple really... ;)

It sounds like a dodgy phishing mail. We have this R500 voucher, just send us R100 to "assign it" to your account. LOL.

But yeah there will be fewer discount coupons.

Haha on the subject of imports I was curious to see how much Onechanbara Z2 Chaos for PS4 USA edition would cost

Wantitall has a 20% discount so it costs R 1,177.19 after discount.
Importitall has a price of R1,108.00
Raru has a price of R 1,086.00

LOL....Raru seems to be the place to go for Amazon imports, now that TakeAlot does no longer want to bother with that.
