Taking everything from whites will not solve the problem: ANC

Let's just say that I willingly handed over everything. What happens next after they have squandered it, back-handed it to mates or embezzled it to hitherto unknown tax havens?

As the thread title says, Taking everything from whites will not solve the problem: ANC

K@k analogy. Murder is the unlawful killing of someone which neither self-defense or the death penalty are.

Perhaps if you'd said:

Actually, that doesn't work either.

And killing is killing...doesn't matter if it's murder, self-defence, war or some court seeking the death penalty.

...that works!

White population. For the general population it is at more than 25%.

yea I was right, actually 8%

Not a big difference really but here is something interesting for you.

Unemployment amongst white people has doubled since 2008 while staying pretty much the same for most other groups.

The result of AA/BEE is that more whites are unemployed. The advantages are zero.

You would expect white unemployment to increase as more non-whites enter the job market, that would be the case even without AA/BEE

It's hard to see white people as being discriminated against when they still have the lowest unemployment rate of all the races, even with the increase.

Over the period 2008–2014, the incidence of long-term unemployment was highest among Black Africans with as many as 61.0% – 71.0% of that group looking for work for one year or longer.

The unemployment rate among the white population group – ranging between 4.1% in 2008 and 7.3% in 2014 – is the lowest of all the population groups by a large margin, the data found.

I agree that AA/BEE hasn't worked, with the unemployment rate of black South Africans being so high, but

Duly noted ... and yes, thread title was completely understood. However, my post was exploring "what next" if wealth (not that a few rand makes up that much) were handed over. Where to from there. It seems that the mistake I made was place a question mark at the back end of the post. A full stop may have been better, as this may have implied food for thought or it a rhetorical statement.

I therefore contritely and subserviently apologise if in any way I created an illusion about my lack of understanding or created harm to the thread topic. I therefore humbly beseech the esteemed moderators to expunge this post if at all possible.

Just don't do it again :p

It would be a ****up if people just handed over their wealth, that's not a sustainable solution

If that were the case unemployment would have decreased in the other races.
I don't agree that white people are being discriminated against by the way, just adding some info that I found relevant to the current discussion.

Consider the following:

  • You could say they lost their jobs just like everyone else since the economy has been doing badly since then. In fact I am pretty sure that in absolute terms more blacks lost their jobs than white during that period.
  • White people are a minority in SA and as such, doubling may not necessarily translate to a lot in absolute terms.
  • Unemployment is/was already low in the white demography. So a doubling of an already low number is not as alarming as it sounds

If there were a point to what I was saying it would be that we need to generate wealth. I would prefer to be even more specific and say that we need to import wealth.

Even if the Akermans and oppenheimers of the country gave away 99% of what they had we would still be in deep trouble, nevermind the average Joe just trying to feed his family and pay his rent.

We have seen what little impact Motsepe's and Greys donations have had on unemployment and cash generation in this country.

We need to import wealth. We do not have enough to go around in this country.

He said that South Africans should be wary of relegating the racial debate into thinking that “if we dispose every white person in South Africa, and redistribute everything to black South Africans, we have solved the problem”.
The fact that a senior government official can casually talk of "disposing" of people is frightening.

Or maybe he doesn't know the difference between disposing and dispossessing?

Or maybe Staff writer screwed up...

“We cannot be apologetic for being black, and we cannot be apologetic for being majority in this country”, Mantashe told the audience.

Well, I cannot be apologetic for being white.

BEE and wealth generation are two separate issues that can not be reconciled. BEE is not meant to create wealth or increase GDP, but it is meant to spread the wealth so that it is not concentrated in one racial group. And it does so (or at least attempts to), not by taking form one and giving to the other, but introducing a bias so that where opportunities arise, as they invariably do in any economy, those that were excluded can get a fighting chance with those that are already entrenched in the economy. The idea of wealth generation should be pursued irregardless of whether BEE exist of not. It is not one or the other.

There you go again with your siege mentality. No one is after you. No one whats to take your stuff. We just want a fair share in the opportunities that exist in SA. We just wanted to be given the space, just like your fore fathers were by the previous government, to create wealth.

But the reality is that BEE and wealth generation are mutually exclusive. Where BEE is the main focus, they are less concerned with making money and more concerned with getting money. Most BBEEE "Candidates" do not understand the difference. So by pushing BEE, you inadvertently reduce the capacity for pursuing wealth generation in the first place.

It tries to spread a teaspoon of butter onto a loaf of bread.

Only person that will end up with butter is the guy with the knife (you know who).

Well I have to wonder why he felt the need to raise the point then.

The first two are one and the same thing and are not targeted at white people but at black people who lost a lot of ground because of discrimination. Unemployment among white people is sitting at 6%, so in that regard I think white people are doing fine.

Corruption affects all esp the poor not sure why you would think it is a target at whites.
Typical siege mentality which is becoming prevalent.

This kind of mindset always astonishes me. the inability to see the bigger picture. yes it's aimed at uplifting black people, but many white people are being affected, a kind of collateral damage.

As for unemployment figures, if you understand how these figures are calculated, you wouldn't let the 6% number fool you.

BEE directly led to my father's business going insolvent. he had a small trucking company, when his biggest client implemented a BEE policy, they summarily cancelled his contracts. The BEE laws allowed them to do that, he was not given a chance to improve his own BEE score, even though at the time all his employees many of who where friends were black.

My father then tried to re-enter the job market, AA made it very difficult, eventually, realizing that his age and his skin color both count against him, he gave up. He has been unemployed for more than 10 years. but since he is not actively looking for work, he is not included in the 6%

Your are talking hot air in your attempt to sound clever or explain an in-cohesive concept. "they are less concerned with making money and more concerned with getting money" WTF

There in no evidence of that. Since the introduction of BEE white people have continued to prosper in SA. More importantly, black people have made inroads into the middle class. No?
