Tanking and Healing

hmm, make your pet stay for the duration of the fight like 20yrds away from every1? that way u can still receive the +2% dmg and still be able to pop TBW

havent raided yet =/ actually taking a weeks break from wow, the guild QQing cos of lack of hunters :S so i guess ill b on 2nite for Kael
ill let you know how it goes in a pm :) 800dps on dr boom just spamming the bm macro without pet dps'ing is wat i got on the weekend... i need a target with tons of hp, that my pet can dps as well without taking 2 much dmg... so i can push my char's rotat + getting a chance to use KC 2 the max, guess a raid would b the best

Naaah that AOE is nasty, I get feared away so far, no Debonairs pizza delivery boy will be able to even deliver to where I get feared.

I dont think the AOE has a range, because I try and stay far away, but still get feared regardless of how far away I am standing.
The fire is also a bugger on its own, its like a car and makes 90 degree turns if you try and run away from it... it bloody follows you !!! hehe

Usually I fill the offtank / dps role (feral specc'd) as my son likes to MT.

I have a very simple rule: Keep tank and healer alive, other classes .... sorry for joo!

(okay, I also watch Pitbull's health occasionally ....) :)

Well said lol.
We keep them alive.
I have always seen party run for exit if tank dies lol.

Well i guess it is Archimonde... *2nd hardest fight ingame?*\

so homing fire ftl =/

Howz Kael coming along ?? Damn you guys have been stuck there for ages now. If you end up being stuck to long there, you will see churn with raiding members and thats when the guild starts falling apart... They dont call Vashj + Kael guild killers for nothing :)

Key is to just push, push, and dont give up. You are closer to a kill than you realize!

Yes!

Got into p5 with 12 ppl alive Woot!
ive been told by every1 p5 = ezmode

funny tho, a russian guild that has been working on kael for about 5months, disbanded a few nites ago cos of him

Tbh we started Kael after Vashj, she went down on the 11th of December, so its been a month and a half?

PS Without vent either

The guild is sorta falling apart... not cos of wiping, cos of afk'ers / IRL issues =/ (Hardly any hunters online, MT + 2 other tanks not coming online in the evenings, healers having RL issues :()

I have been guilty there :o I'm a Frost mage and sometimes get aggro cause of my DPS'ing :p

Installed the Omen Threat Meter and watch that closely now :)

One thing about mages though...Ice Block to get rid of aggro ;) Works like a charm :p

If you have a bad DPS player , it does not matter how good your tank is , it is possible to pull agro from the tank.

Tanks have a few "oh ****" buttons that then can use to regain agro , but these are generally on a CD so depending on how the crap DPS does it , depends on whether the DPS dies or not.

Currently playing a feral druid in SSC and TK.

for me the most irritating thing as a tank are guys who can't follow marks and don't understand that you gotta take out mobs one at a time (luckily I'm a bear so i just swipe the *** out of everything)
Oh yes and when a dps pulls mobs of 4 at a time it's bliss trying to get all that aggro back with no rage.

Speaking DPS... last night was the most insane raid ever.
We went to BT, and on Teron Gorefiend the raid leader starts setting up the groups, I /w the raid leader and tell him my requirements.
So my group setup looks as follow :
1 x Feral druid ( 5 % crit buff )
1 x shammy ( agility totem + bloodlust )
2 x warrior's ( battleshout ) - My pet got lots of loving from the warriors with this buff.

Anyway, so we start the encounter, shammy blows his bloodlust, I use my racial Bloodfury, Berserker trinket, Beastial Wrath, rapid fire and drums of battle... At this point I am also using my 4 x tier 5 pieces for the exstra 5% crit buff. I nuke like a mad man with attack speed of around 0.6 sec's between shots, crit, crit, crit, crit and my arrows are firing like a machine gun. As soon as my drums of battle, wore down, our feral druid that also has leatherworking in my party blows his drums of battle, another 30 sec's of insane attack speed. Now at this point in time I am using FD like crazy to avoid pulling aggro off tank. As I check the DPS meters, I am hitting the 2250 mark!!!!, and I am thinking, any second now, I will get that curse that kills you and I will be removed from the fight. There is no way I can sustain this level of dps, and NOT get the curse. Anyway, for some reason I just NEVER got the damn curse, and nuked the entire fight through. 2% left on the boss and someone's ghosts starts ripping the raid apart, and I die. We end up killing the boss, and then I just hear some guys in the raid yell NERF HUNTERS ZOMG !!!

Now on this encounter you NEVER reach no1 on damage meters since the guys that get the ghost curse, top the damage meters every single time.
The total damage from the encounter - Managed to out damage the guys that got the ghost curse, and my overall average dps was 2028 DPS. This is pretty much my personal record. With the right group setup, your dps can be mindblowing.

Second on the list you can see the raid leader that died and got the ghost curse, he was doing almost 3k DPS which is why its pretty much impossible to out dps / out damage the guys getting the curse...

Yea druid tanks are also imba... its only once you reach 25 man instances when you hear oh so often of the druids worst enemy - "crushing blows"

Thats where your warriors + pallies > druids.

I have alot of problems tanking caster mobs with druid.
Ill never say a pala can out tank a druid on anything maybe prot waroir but hey are so rare.

Well i have heard of people doing ALL end game content wit bear tank with no real prob.

Our tanking has been nerfed alot cause of waroir whines but we still do fine.

And if we keep all mobs on us we can do major dps.
I wanna see a prot tank do more pls.
You can even out dps dps classes like this

Not maybe... a warrior does make a better tank than a druid. (not factoring in things like personal skillz of the person behind the character )
Remember one thing... Druid's are a hybrid class, they are good at many things, but NOT best at one thing.

Druids are very popular as off tanks, but one thing is for sure, if there is a prot spec warrior and feral spec druid, a raid leader will most certainly take the prot spec warrior as his choice of main tank if both characters have similar gear. I cant even begin to tell you how many raid wipes we had on bosses, just because the druid couldn't handle crushing blows.

As for tank dps... its NOT about dps for the tank, tank is all about TPS ( threat per second ). His damage may suck, but its not his job to do damage.
I think you are still very much in the mind set of 5 man pre level 70 instances. Things change once you start with REAL raiding.

Maybe things chage on lvl 70 and we become crap tanks like you said but up to lvl 63 were i stand druid tank OVER ALL.:D

No... I never said druids are crap tanks, I am saying that overall warriors in prot spec is the preferred choice as tanks. Why ? because they have all the abilities to counter pretty much most of the bosses abilities, eg. crushing blows, spell reflect etc etc.

Druids are excellent off tanks, and I also have a level 70 druid. But if you start doing end game instances, you dont compromise, you get the right class for the right job. 5 Man instances and most heroic's are something completely different.

Druids are just as viable as pally/warrior in almost every fight, and often favoured in fights where the boss has a fast swing speed. (eats through shield block/holy shield quickly making warrior/pallies crushable). My druid has, with the right group combo, the armor cap, 55-60% dodge, and over 20k hps easily. Crushing blows hit me for close to what a warrior gets hit for normally.

Unfortunately there are a few gimmick fights where druids are specifically unable to tank, like Illidan, where his shear HAS to be blocked. Otherwise the only variable that would make me want a pally/warrior over a druid would be excessive spell damage, against which we have 0 mitigation. Warriors have defensive stance (10%?, and can spec for more spell dmg reduction), pallies have imp righteous fury and spell warding.

Druids do however perform much better as an offtank, due their ability to simply switch gear and still put out some decent dps if necessary.

As someone above said, hybrid class, but just as viable nonetheless.

As a druid, I prefer off tanking in instances as I can fill in as backup healer and pull off the tank when they taking too many hits, giving the healer a bit more time to get in heals.

Sadly I haven't raided yet so I'll just listen and learn from your comments.

Yeah, offheals are always nice. Sadly in a raiding environment feral heals count for very little, but I did used to shift out on bear boss (where he changes between humanoid/bear form and the warrior taunts) so that I could toss a few hots onto the warrior.

Our healers were a bit under-geared and under-skilled at the time, so every little bit helped. Then I'd just shift back, let my white hits get my rage back up and be ready to taunt when he shifted back to troll form. :)

Raid tomorrow at 18:00 - 19:00 about there. ;)
