I've had tapatalk for ever, I bought it forever ago, possibly the first app I ever bought. It was great, it changed, I got used to it, and now I have to pay for it again, essentially the same thing I had installed ages ago. Wtf!!

Thanks, downloaded the apk but get an error installing. I'm running kitkat so not sure if that's why it wont install?

Tapatalk is the free version, you want. It used to be the one you need to pay for, not anymore.
Tapatalk Pro is the one you need to pay for nowadays.
I installed the 1st one about a month ago on my Nexus 7 for free.

No you are confused. The version you paid for, in your own words "I've had tapatalk for ever" was the normal non-pro version. At that time there was only a pay for version and no pro version. It then later on became free, when the author started the new pro version, which is now pay for, and which is why you have to pay for it again.
The now-free Tapatalk has quite a few drawbacks compared to the older Tapatalk Classic. The new version does not scroll smoothly, does not make proper use of the available space on the screen, looks more cluttered, and has some bugs (some weird code often displays within messages). Tapatalk Classic has none of these issues. I just keep using the older version.
Got ya. Thanks again. Still, I had Tapatalk Pro installed through updates over time from my original purchase, exact same app I have to buy again.
Anyway, I wasnt aware of the free version and that seems to fine for what I need.

Interesting that you got the pro upgrade for free, but surely this must be recorded on your google account? unless my understanding is wrong and the payment for the app is for the selected device only.
