I will block, hoot at, swear at, get physical or pepper spray anyone who drives like a twat, not limited to taxi drivers.

Unless there is someone else in my car, then I drive like a nun.

He was. Unconscious.

Then this part of the report is confusing:

" I was a witness and what you saw was a guy trying to run away when his taxi came to a stop. He was putting on a act so the cops wouldn't take him to jail. "

In the other remarks there's a bunny-hugging eyewitness complaining about the savageness of the beating he got.

Have had a few issues with taxi drivers in the past, some of the more memorable ones:

Travelling down Jorrison just outside Wits, a Taxi cuts me off and comes to an immediate stop. I hoot and the driver gets out with a large knife. I get out with a baton (EDC knife on my just in case) and walk towards him. Drive decides he has somewhere else to be in a hurry, so jumps in the taxi and ducks.

Travelling down Beyers past Cresta, taxi tries to force his way in front of me in standstill traffic, I have nothing of it. Drive then gestures a gun with his hand at me, so I get out of my car and ask him to pull it or get ****ed up. Driver does up the window and pretends I don't exist, but I can see him sweating until I get back in my car.

I see a taxi driver verbally abusing an old woman who was "only" driving 60 in a 60 zone. So I stop next to him in traffic and share some choice words. Drive pulls a knife, I pull a bigger one. Driver gets out, I get out. Driver gets back in and speeds off very quickly.

There have been many others, but it almost always ends up the same, taxi driver is a big boy until he's called out, then his tiny balls shrivel up and he gets out in a hurry. **** them, cretinous meatsacks.

Some say I am the physical manifestation of pent up anger and hatred towards taxi drivers in Johannesburg. And that if you say my username three times fast, it sounds a little bit like "****ing taxi". All we know is, I'm called [-]the Stig[/-] TehStranger.

They kill each other regularly. You are very lucky you didn't stumble into one of the stupid ones. At least these ones had some sense to drive off.

Good idea on applying for a reservist position. I served in the 10111 call centre for 3 years from 2005-2008 part time, then was put into the Fraud unit for a year after that. If you need help you can go in to your local station and ask for the station commander.

They're loath to take someone on when they don't have the advantage though.

Wierdabrug is my local station and they are utterly useless. Don't have any misguided hope that they will be helpful. In fact I won't be surprised if the station commander is the area's criminal coordinator.

Yup. Typical coward mentality. All you need is to intimidate them and they run like fleas from a sprayed dog. I saw this happen when 2 burly gym klapperss got off their car after that taxi cut them off at a robot.

I got lucky in C R Swart station in DBN central. The Station Commander was a great dude.

Once was amazed by taxi drivers, HE jumped the light, totalled my car, and his buddies want to come beat me up for fun.

Lucky i had my 9mm with me to scare them off.

I really think people should block them purposfuly from the yellow lane, teach them how to behave.....

Yes and no.. It's a risk calculation which u can't afford to get wrong. This thread points the finger at taxi drivers but let me tell you something.. People in luxury cars are even more pathetic. In fact I think, besides making it a revokable pgdp drivers license offense for taxi drivers, taxis & cars particularly wherein the driver is educated or earning > 20k pm should have the vehicles impounded with a fee of 10% the market value of the vehicle.

Why? Let's face it.. Fines I Gauteng = toilet paper. People here don't give a damn and if you really want to make people in Gauteng obey the law you need to go zero tolerance when a society has gone as off track as it has here. People in Gauteng only obey when you impact their pockets.. This is the truth & only reason ANC had a drop last elections

So this would be for ridiculous to dangerous activity where he driver is doing something that's just plain inexcusable.. Eg making the straight lane an intersecting one. See every highway on ramp from side roads in the morning.. Or driving over barriers to cut into traffic, or making a turn on a straight lane to circumvent dedicated on ramp turn traffic thereby causing bigger traffic, robot/stop sign jumping etc speeding should not be manned.. I think a manned speed monitoring fine = waste of time.. Put in avg speed enforcement, hike the cost and use the freed human resource to do more ad hoc road closure/checks + ad hoc patrols to correct traffic law adherence in common problem areas
