Taxi driver pulls a panga - enough is enough

Taxi drivers are gardeners with a drivers licence.

Long story short, taxi drives down the wrong side of the road in Centurion, almost causes an accident by cutting in front of a lady. She hoots at him. He pulls in front of her, get out of his taxi with a panga and starts threatening her with it.

Not in Soweto. Centurion.

In peak traffic all the other arsewipes scatter and leave this poor woman to her fate. I stopped and told the dude to calm down and leave the lady alone. The clown ended up threatening me. Luckily I remained calm and he decided to take off.

This was the last straw though. I've decided to join the reservists so I can help to curtail this behavior before someone gets seriously hurt. Anyone in Pta/Centurion a reservist? Please drop me a pm. I've already found where to sign up etc, but would like to speak to someone that's already walked the line.

Should have pulled a gun and shot the fk'er. He can be glad I didn't pass there on the bike. I would have seriously shot him. He poses a direct danger to the unarmed lady.

I really think people should block them purposfuly from the yellow lane, teach them how to behave.....

Have you seen what most taxis look like? They don't care if they trash their taxis, but I do care if someone drives in to me.

It shouldn't be up to law-abiding road users to "educate" taxi drivers. Government and Metro should get off of their arses, find a backbone and play some serious hardball with them.

This police station is a POS, seriously, I've lost my **** with them once and didn't bother to go back. Couldn't care less attitude reigns supreme. The station commander pulls a salary; only reason he pitches up for work.

I often wonder if its not the mining fumes or something causing all this aggression.

Don't have any of this drama in CApe Town and I ride a bike every day.

I've noticed an observable incline in lawlessness. There's simply no policing anymore and the few that try are toothless.

A while back in PTA CBD the Metro police tried to tow away a taxi that was illegally parked. The next moment there was 30+ black dudes surrounding the Metro officer pulling and shoving him around. He let the taxi go. That inspires confidence in our system of law, doesn't it?

WhyTF can't taxis stop in the taxi stops provided for them next to the road?! Every day I have to risk life and limb by pulling out of the yellow lane into the path of traffic coming from behind so I can ride past taxis. Don't even try going past them on the left, their occupants jump out without looking. It is like switching on their hazards give them the right to stop anywhere, even if it is 10 meters from the designated taxi stop.

I have been here for almost 2 years. At first I was also just wandering what these people are smoking to be so intense. Now my daily commute is one big cloud of rage and I am the one doing to screaming and hand gestures.

I try not to get upset, but it is very difficult with the POS's driving in yellow lane, or overtaking a line of cars on the right, then cutting right across back to the left at a robot. Daily occurrence.

Oh everyone pees me off on the roads here and brings out the worst in me. I catch myself trying to be as inconsiderate and nasty to everyone as possible on the roads...and so the cycle continues. Jhb was definately rightly voted the worlds rudest city.

Yeah, the taxis are pretty much no better or worse than everyone else.

This attitude isn't only reserved for the road sadly. I often get sworn at in business dealing because I am trying to do something nice. Everyone suspects you have alterior motives. Kark place this.

My perception of Jo'burg is always...

1. Show boating : Everyone tries as hard as possible to show that they have or are made of money. People, businesses, everyone.

2. People are just so angry and generally mistrusting. You do something nice and they look at you like you assaulted them.

Just happened in PE (Kempston Road, opposite Mercantile Hospital)....

Taxi rode into a car and another taxi and tried to drive off. Driver of car caught up with him. Taxi driver threatened him, but picked on the wrong person. Luckily for him the hospital is across the road.
