I just witnessed (thankfully from a distance) what appears to be yet another taxi violence event on Hendrik Potgieter road in Constantia area about 20-30minutes ago. Heard plenty of automatic fire (possibly AK47) and a fainter popping sound at random. Plenty of people scattered. Taxi's all around.

A guy lying on the ground nearby the bridge, obviously stuffed. Makes one sick about the disregard for human life doesn't it. And also the possibility of some innocent person nearby also being hit.

Feels soooooo great to be in this f**king country right now doesn't it :rolleyes: :mad: :(

Seriously not a place to bring your children up in is it?
 
If I'm not mistaken it is where JG Strydom (Golf Club Terrace) road crosses H Potgieter with a bridge, quite close to Hillfox. I looked down at the incident from higher ground. Didn't see the shooters though, too many people scattered.
 
Dead Taxi Driver

I prob. hate them more than the next guy.

Driving home just now, About 800m from our townhouse complex I drove past a Taxi violence shooting spot. Body was still lying against the hill. No medics yet just police.

Now it still sadend me... the poor guy. I hate them, but damn death is so final :(

No official report yet so I'll post it off topic. Only heard a report on the radio about it now.

* It's not on the N1 it's on Hendrik Potgieter going east, right under the bridge next to the Toyota dealership/Hillfox Power centre

The traffic report on Highveld is wrong

It's walking distance from my place, I'm just up Golf Club Terrace drive :eek:
 
Same here, as much as I hate the guys death is bit too much for them. You must realize that they are just capitlists.

Sadly it turns out that the person I saw lying near the bridge was an innocent woman waiting for a taxi, this according to our security guard who walked down to go see. She was definately hit.

Someones Mom, wife and/or sister or even Grandmother is not coming home tonight.

Makes my blood boil. :mad:

One person has been killed and four others seriously wounded in two separate shootings on the West Rand related to ongoing taxi violence in Gauteng.

In the first incident, three taxi passengers were shot and wounded on the N1 highway just before the 14th Avenue off ramp.

In the second attack, one person was shot and killed and another wounded on Hendrik Potgieter Road near the Trade Centre.

Emergency Service’s Malcom Midgley is on the scene and he says the police are also present.

There is soon to be another report, there was another shooting just about 5 -7 minutes ago. Sounded as if it was a Clearwater mall
 
This is crazy man. Thanks for heads up Pitbull I just told someone I know at clearwater to be careful. Thank goodness I am safe at home now.
 
Whats the bet that the one at Clearwater or 14th offramp as I am hearing was in retaliation to the one on HP road?

This taxi violence is out of control.

Had a staff member shot during taxi violence in our neck of the woods - fortunately it wasn't fatal. She's a single mother with 3 young children to support who would be completely stuffed without her. But like Johnny Two Shoes says "Someones Mom, wife and/or sister or even Grandmother is not coming home tonight." and that is wrong in so many ways

What I would love to do: All us "normal" people leave joburg for the long weekend. We then give all taxi drivers an AK-47 and let them duke it out.

When we get back on tuesday there will be
1) Less Taxi's on the road
2) In theory, only 1 taxi association left.

Reminds me of my dream to buy 2 building in the CBD and have real life, unreal tournament style, paintball or laser tag, capture the flag.
