Hi Guys

Has anyone used TCL TVs and monitors? Keen to get some feedback.

thanks
J

I've got one of their TVs - I wouldn't buy another. It's decidedly mediocre.

What contributes to mediocrity..? Picture quality..? Smartness or lack thereof..? Features..? Inputs and supported standards thereof..?

Yes - all of that.

EDIT: for reference I have a TCL 55" 55P615 UHD Android TV

So you've got the entry level tv and this has made you swear against them?

Swear off.

But yes, I'm unimpressed with it and wouldn't buy another. Not sure why you have a problem with that. Not sure where price point comes into it. I've bought less expensive products that I have been thoroughly impressed with over the years.

Interestingly enough, around the same time and unbeknownst to me, my dad bought their Roku TV in the US and also shares my opinion of the brand.

Because when it comes to TVs the price does matter. Entry level tvs you need to realize the compromises you'll have.

Fair enough - I overpaid.

Cheap = Compromised.

My advice is to get a good quality product.
True - IIRC you may have warned me about TLC

Well no matter the TV brand at that price point. They'd all have issues
You're right - I would have been better off with a smaller, more expensive, Samsung.

FWIW though I said it was mediocre.

Oh I sure did warn you. But no one ever listens to my wisdom and expert advice except @mr_norris
Que sera, sera

Cause the LG C1 is a bit old and long in the tooth now... the replacements are a bit pricey. By the way how is your lg c1 going?

I didn't say anything about any LG my love. This is not personal. We are talking about TCL here not Hisense.

Yeah, when you cut the price you cut the features.
When I moved to the UK I just wanted to get a TV and not one that cost too much. Got myself a Hisense (which isn't that bad) but the software is its weak point... Dec last year I bought a Fire Stick 4K Max because I couldnt handle Vidaa any more.
Later this year, once I have moved to a new place, I will probably buy an LG OLED.

I did some research and TCL is not a bad brand. If you go low end you going to get crap quality. Same goes for any brand if you buy the lowest end model you will get crap quality. Samsung and Hisense is the worst when it comes to smart os.
