Here's why I adore Telegram:
* Ability to send large files. We have shared episodes of anime (.mkv files) in the group, for others who couldn't get them. This was before I bought 2TB of cloud storage where I was able to add/delete users
* Ability to work without a mobile phone. This is important for some of my art friends and tattoo artist friends. It also works on many flavours of Linux without issues and without having to try and debug because it just works. Discord is one of the most difficult apps to get running in Linux environments and Whatsapp.. well, forget it.
* Ability to work in Tails and other infosec environments because it is easy to install without having to run bash scripts and help the install along by chown-ing its working directory

Ability to send large files

It is nice to know that you can send 1.5Gb files. Often do this for those using the desktop app. Easier than email, for example GMail has a 25Mb limit. Although that is better than WA's tiny 16Mb limit.

I just sent a 31Mb video to a friend on WA without a problem.

I just use the PWA app because no one uses Telegram.
