Teletubbies

When I have a child some day, I will never introduce them to crap cartoons like this. I'll only let my child watch cartoons that use proper language and pronounciation. I've seen parents and kids that have followed this method. Their kids seem to be a lot smarter and have started to speak proper words faster than others who watch crappy cartoons and listen to googoo gaagaa sounds. The parents also don't speak in high pitched voices or make funny sounds to get the childs attention. They always speak normally as if talking to another adult.
 
why the f are adults watching a kid programme... Oh wait... maturity levels

When my daughter started talking she referred to red as Poe, yellow as Lala etc...

Thank **** she's over Teletubbies now.
 
Ja my little crapper moved onto Rio and other kids movies but occasionally wants the TT

Being able to sit still for 5 minutes and not have to entertain or play is a luxury and CBB's along with the Teletubbies, Andy Pandy, Rosie and The Little Red Tracktor provide me this.

I have to agree with Arzy on this as i to have the sad sad fortune of knowing Andy Pandy
and Rosie and rastamouse bla bla bla and its very very true that most parents are very
gr8full for the few min of rest we get when these shows are on .... that still doesn't make
the shows any less retarded to adults or anyone with a fair IQ.

I made those same promises before i had a child of my own .... it didnt work they get exposed to the shows
someway or another and it catches on and will stick!
 
I have a 1.5yr old daughter and I am therefore unwillingly misled into watching this total waste of broadcasting displeasure.....what bites me the most is the fact of why in god's name if the one teletubby says something, the rest of the losers have to repeat the exact same words in an attempt of being cuter than the one before them ..... i wish i could walk into one of those teletubby's in the street and i'll seriously make him choke on his own tubby custard !!!! :twisted:

It's aimed at small children. I can see how anyone who does not have small children would not get that it's entertaining and educational. For small children. It's a totally different world in those early years, a time when the simplest object is the most exciting thing ever. When doing exactly the same simple activity over and over is the best fun a person can have. It's possible to have different layers on things aimed at older children, such that it will even appeal to adults, but that's going to be difficult with anything intended for the world of a toddler.

You have an 18 month old child and yet you have to ask that question. Incredible.
 
Did some reading on Wikipedia and now realise that "Andy Pandy" was/is in a league of it's own:

The original version of Andy Pandy premiered on BBC TV in 1950, on either 11 July or 20 June

Twenty-six episodes of fifteen minutes each were filmed on 16mm they were repeated continuously until 1970.

By 1970 the black and white films were almost worn out and so 13 new episodes were filmed in colour and transmitted from 5 January 1970

Yep...I recall myself making this statement as well before I had my little one.

Unfortunately, you can't really control it and you will more than likely reach a point where you let them watch just one show...

Then they start laughing at the baby in the son on Teletubbies and waving goodbye to the 4 horrid creatures when the show ends. Or they start crying when that idiot on Gigglebiz decides he has tormented parents enough for one sitting. Or they clap their hands when Rosie or Andy Pandy's theme song starts playing.

How you speak to your children is a completely different matter though completely unrelated to Teletubbies.

In defence of CBB's though, they do have some semi-decent things to watch. Mister Maker comes to mind.

I puke a little in my mouth though every time Grandpa in my Pocket comes on.

I used to to say that too but when you see their joy in watching it, theres no way I could stop it.
