Telkom 100Mbps FTTH launch plans

Progress is good. We should embrace it and not complain or be negative.

we need this to happen Telkom. don't delay please
Progress is positive, its good to see prospects of improvement in our broadband.
but "Asked about the products consumers can look forward to, Lewis said that fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) is still being productised and that it’ll take another year to go through product processes."... seems to be really slow though?
How can people already be testing it, but it will take a whole year to decide on making it into a viable product?
A year is a long time, the way things in tech change nowadays?

although its probably wise not to make specific statements about timing... in ZA, and with our gov, anything can happen to delay good progress, and then people will hold you to your statement :-)

but good luck with this! faster & better broadband improves many areas of our lives

Testing can be a technical thing, is it possible and what problems are there to be sorted out. Productising something is more complex than you would think.

1. Training for staff on fibre related products in the support centre
2. Training for technicians and those handing the installation of the fibre
3. Route decisions and limitations
4. Resource management of people, equipment and the actual fibre - where should they be located/stored, how much do we need on hand, how are we managing ordering/creating more etc etc
5. Problems that come with legistation and cost for areas (do we need to upgrade, if so, where is the most demand to do this to get decent returns?)
6. Marketing...

etc etc.

Telkom please put in some fibre in areas where copper lines get stolen.

very nice telkom lets wait and see only good things to come.

NICE!!! Progress at last.BUT....

Que the negative comments

Will I afford it? Seeing that I can't even afford VDSL let alone having it available.:(

Time will tell, but nice one Telkom and keep up the pace.

Previously Telkom revealed that technical trials are underway in 2 business parks, 3 gated communities, and a leafy suburb.
The clear technical details make me confident. Hands up who lives in a leafy suburb.

I will be positive when they have actually caught up - and I don't mean on a par with Europe/Asia/America - I mean caught up to my expectations for Africa. Sorry, but I'm not selling this continent short.
