Hello one and all.

I have just recently moved from telkom 2mb to the Telkom 10mb access.
Yet i seem to have a small problem.

I stay in the Goodwood area. Recently from bellville. My telkom has always been 2mb and on speed tests ive recieved an average of 1.5 - 1.7 mb downstream. I have decided to up this now to 5 times the line speed. 10mb.

My results are max downstream of 2.4 after 15 tests and ave of 2.2 and upstream of .40 Does any one know what the problem could be ?

This 10mb is then other wise just a waste of money

Line stats from your router?
Can your exchange support 10mb?
Are your account and line on 10mb?
Who is your ISP?

Thank you for replying. Yes i am with Telkom ISP and before i did the transfer we did check everything. The router can support 10mb the line and account is capble of taking 10mb. Modem syncing to 10mb? that i dont know. Its the telkom mega 200vwr
This router complies with ADSL worldwide standards. It supports downstream rate up to 12/24
Mbps with ADSL2/2+, 8Mbps with ADSL2594466168.png

that is what i found. and that is just stupid. My max on 2mb line was just 1mb short of what i have now.

Yup, post your line stats. The section where it has information about SNR, attenuation/resistance, sync speed etc.

The other thing to consider is that after a profile change to another speed, it's advised that you call Telkom to request a port reset to ensure that you sync with the exchange at the new speed.

This may however be a line stats issue, howeve Telkom are usually pretty good in assessing your stats before willy-nilly bumping you up, so let's hold out hope that all you need is a port reset. Let's also hope that it's not them having issues on the ISP side. If the latter, there are always other options though...;)
