Telkom 1mb Uncapped... Again.

Look guys, I understand that it is going to be throttled, im not worried about that. Im just saying that my speeds are WAY slower than what they advertise, and its the same speed throught the day and night [local and international]. So something musty be wrong. When I go home, Ill check if I'm on the "basic" or "advanced" accounts.

So i go to a telkom direct store, to see the lady who initially "helped" me with my speed problem. I told her about my discovery, thinking that it would help them figure out whats wrong. SHE TELLS ME: "Well, you can use up the rest of your Unbcapped trial period. Then you can cancel your account with us, and sign up with them"

Speechless... Keep your free KAK Speeds!! Im changing ISP's

"and give back our damn router!" ;)

96.3kB/s @ 18h29 on a TI Uncapped 1Mbps account

Happy.
but ofcoure you're not gonna go mal with it. i mean if you go and download the whole internet 24/7, it's only a matter of time before you're automatically moved to a pool with severe throttling. -perfectly fair imo, sadly some ppl refuse to understand

Hmm, getting used to 4Mbps, 410KB/s, becomes slow. I think I'll be happy with triple that.

Yo

I had the same problem recently. Applied for the 3 month trial and my speeds were exactly the same as yours. After numerous phone calls and them telling me that my line is fine, I checked the form I received from Telkom containing my username and password and guess what? It said 'Product details: TI DO Uncapped BASIC'. I was so eager to get home and try out my brand spanking new Internet connection that I hardly even looked at the piece of paper when I got it. However, I don't get how someone can be so incompetent signing me up for a 384Kbps package when I explicitly asked for the TRIAL which all Telkom employees should know by now is meant to be 'Uncapped Advanced'. So eventually after visiting one of their branches and having them cancel the Basic package and signing me up for the Advanced instead, I am now more than happy with my speeds :)

I would suggest going into a branch and have them check what package you're on.

Cheers

And what do you know... "TI DO Uncapped BASIC" is what I had. I honestly didn't know that is what it meant.

I went in to the direct store today, explained to them my problem. The nice lady gave a mini *facepalm*, apologized for the mistake, canceled my account and created a new "advanced account".

Thanks EtTa
