Hi. I have a 2Mbps ADSL line with Telkom and Afrihost is my ISP. These are the speed test results of my line from various online tests:
MyBroadband Speed Test: Download Speed: 715 kbps (89.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 228 kbps (28.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 80 ms

Mweb Speed Test:Download Speed: 591 kbps (73.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 269 kbps (33.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 22 ms
Jitter: 2 ms

Speedtest.net by Ookla: Download Speed: 0.73Mbps
Upload Speed: 0.24Mbps
Ping: 38ms

I'd like to know from other users that also have a 2Mbps line if they achieving similar results?
Shouldn't I be getting a download speed of at least 1.5Mbps for a 2Mbps line?

Could you add more details, such as:
Could you log into your router and show the line sync stats?
Could you also tell us what product you are on from afrihost?
Thanks.

EDIT: You are definitely getting too slow speeds, more 1mbps than 2, and your upload seems a bit low, should be ~40-50 kB/s on all products up to 4mbps.

Hi Johnatan56.

Hi,
Your line is syncing at less than 1mbps, your attenuation is great though, but your noise margin is really bad.
I would advise you to log a fault. Ask them to check the line.

Your line is faulty. You are syncing @ less than 2Mbps which is why you are seeing slow speeds. Your line should be able to handle a 10Mbps profile without any problems if you look at your attenuation. Your low SNR is causing that problem. Log a fault with Telkom let the technician come out and recheck the line.

Here is my stats as you can see my attenuation is slightly higher than yours which means I am further away from the exchange than you but I'm running on 10Mbps and my SNR is higher than yours which is better.
