Telkom ADSL data cap increases officially confirmed

How sad this still is.

EDIT: eh xcuse PATHETIC this still is??

What's the story?? I was told by the local telkom sales manager the reason is that Telkom is barred from capitilizing on the monopolistic position by offering uncapped, therefore has to offer capped.

Now now. Where is the link to the article where the Telkom Bongle said that 3GB per month is enough.
 
I just got off the phone with Telkom & they said its ONLY for the month of October, then it goes back to 5GB & not 8GB.

WTF???

And the worst part is it's still R79 if you just want 1GB!! Telkom really sucks at making life any easier for the poor, when in fact as a government entity with such heavy obligation to do so, such a compromise should be expected, and the same applies to 384k - either the price should be dropped, or the speed increased, because there's no value to those products.

This is such an embarrassing company (telkom). MTN is testing their fast network for 4 months giving an affordable uncapped option be it on a very unimpressive 24 month contract, if their network holds out then who knows what caps we could be getting, maybe 150GB could be on the cards (I doubt it but maybe), if this happens then telkom is as good as gone because they really do not get what is happening around the world with Internet and what the people want.

I used 177GB last month, all my business is done on it, but the real user of it is entertainment, watching world cup rugby live, watching up-to-date series/movies. Youtube.com videos now have Harvard professors showing their full lectures, so top class education is available; but you need large data caps or preferably uncapped, unthrottled bandwidth.

Telkom you have stifled this country for so long, but your days are numbered and I for one will be glad to see you go, you are pathetic, unimaginable company that only the rich can afford your very mediocre offerings.

There won't be a 5GB product any more ... but as the change is effective 1 Oct., not all communication has necessarily been done. Check the website on 1 Oct.
 
Telkom you are world class, you rock! Last week I threw out my B&W tele to replace it with a colour set. Now this? What next? Telkom putting a man on the moon? Almost makes me want to give up uncapped just to be part of the future. Keep on innovating! Warp speed ahead.
 
Telkom Internet Quality - not so good

It's not unshaped and I've tried Afrihost free account and am now with Cybersmart and the quality of the internet is much better - more reliable in loading web pages. For gaming though Telkom is unshaped I think and they are pretty good.
