The problem is that Telkom can't afford to cut line rental and unbundle voice - thrir earning strategy depends on these fixed charges.
The first thing people will do is abandon their voice line in favour of their cellphones and this will halve their profit per customer. No company is going to do this to potentially attract customers.
We need fixed line competition but that isn't going to happen any time soon.
