Telkom ADSL - help please!

Hello all,

I find this website so helpful, especially the forums, but I have hit a snag.

I live in a different city to my father, and he has been struggling with his Telkom ADSL line for a few weeks.
He only has a 2mbps line, and 5GB of data, but it just isn't working.
He has spent hours on the phone to Telkom, who cannot see any issues their side.
I've spent hour upon hour (anyone who has had to talk their non-tech savy parents through this sort of thing on the phone will sympathise!) checking that his modem is giving out a signal, and his devices all connect to the modem no problem.

I'm sure it is a Telkom issue as the internet light on his modem is red. Telkom can't seem to see an issue on their side - any ideas as to what it could be? Or any suggestions as to what we could try?
Lastly - perhaps there is someone in the Durban area who knows of someone who could go help him?

What do you mean it just is not working.
You mean zero internet access?

Does the phone line work if you make a voice call?
What router / modem is used. Model number please?
Is the DSL light lit on the modem?
