Telkom ADSL modem shortage

Many Telkom customers stranded without ADSL modems; new stock to arrive soon

I can only assume these are all contract customers who sign up and then get a free modem.....shame.

@duderoo, yes it is contract customers that sign up and get a free modem. Telkom let me sign up and didn't even tell me about the modem problem they were experiencing at the time... no matter, 3 weeks later they have let me cancel my contract, so I am lucky...

It is ALL customers, even people willing to buy one.
I tried almost 3 months ago, same story, one 1 store in Joburg had modems...

I don't understand why anyone would rely on getting a modem/router from Telkom in the first place. Just go down to your local computer shop and buy one yourself. Stop being so cheap!

Hey, I have a telkom Mega router, never had a problem with it. Does what its supposed to do, Im not interested with all the fancy stuff that I dont even know about, let alone need! So why should I spend R500 or what ever it is when I can be "cheap" and get a perfectly functioning router that is "free". You actually pay for it through the contract.

I guess you didn't have economy as subject during your school days.

If a monopoly wants to make money, they MUST under provide. If telkom has sattisfied customers their planning department should have been sacked.

Just like eskom's(yet another monopoly) managing director(or ceo) who had a sexy bonus last year for his great work on keeping south africans in the 'dark'
