Telkom ADSL performance complaints roll in

And so it begins. What makes matters worse is the lack of a Telkom rep on this board.
 
Shame Fudzy you can't expect every small company to have a rep on here...
 
As soon as my account hit the soft-cap, everything just died xD.

This sucks because I used the local data for the telkom news servers and now I'm lucky if I get a constant 10KB/s speed on something cached and its after hours.

Get an uncapped account if you want to download.
 
I don't download a lot. The local data was more than sufficient for youtube and my altbinz

Ranger? Sorry they've taken away the Member list for some reason so I can't see who the reps are. I know of MWebGuy / Afrihost etc and I haven't seen a TelkomDude etc.
 
Mine seems fine since Friday last week - I'd say one week of issues is nothing compare to the complaints rolling in w.r.t. other ISPs on a daily basis.

Ranger is the unofficial Telkom rep. Go read the Telkom uncapped user feedback thread.
 
You must be out of your mind to actualy have been willing to make use of Telkom as an ISP.

I agree - compared to my experience when axxess migrated to the MTN backbone from IS in November (I eventually cancelled before monthend), TI's hiccups have had minimal impact - capped & uncapped accounts.

People's download speeds over the last year would disagree with that. Once the niggles of the migration are fully ironed out everything should be back to normal.

They have been on their new network for 2 days. People need to give it at least a week before they start judging.

Yeh, I've really suffered with fullline speeds on demand for anything from torrents to newsgroups since moving to them. I miss the days of being shaped to death on Afrihost and MWEB - and then goodness knows what with Openweb Gold, it was like a yo-yo.
 
I have intermittent performance issues with Telkom since January, sometimes internet access drops completely, other times (aside form slow speeds) I can't even finish a 20mb download without a download manager.

I suspect you have a problem with Telkom the ADSL line provider not Telkom Internet the data provider - have you tested with other ISP accounts?
