Telkom ADSL speed upgrade details (2012)

Lol the delay is no surprise, but I'm glad that they're doing the 1->2 upgrades first :D

Can't wait for my 1Meg to be upgraded to 2 meg.
So 24 Aug is the date. I wonder how long ti will take from then for my line upgrade.

Now what will Afrihost charge to upgrade 1meg to 2 meg uncapped?

Manelisa Mavuso: “Telkom is enhancing its value proposition to truly differentiate our broadband offerings. We are accelerating the evolution of broadband offerings in the country.”

Really? :erm:

Queue the 384 cry babies... Can see it, all the 384 people crying about the delay.

I am going to bump my 384 line to 1MB and just downgrade when the 384 lines are upgraded. I can't work with this kak any longer.

But here is my dilemma again. We are paying the new prices for upgraded speeds from 1 August 2012. But only getting upgraded a month or three later. Work out how much extra revenue that entails without actually providing more services. What an excellent idea for a quick massive money spinner. Chicken before the egg IMO

The upgrades and the price increase are unrelated... The increase is just that its an increase like the line rental increase that we get every year. They are not increasing the cost because of the line speed increase.

You do realise us 384 'cry babies' are already paying the upgraded price, right? Basically, we're paying for something we won't be getting for the next two months.

This is bull****.

As noted above, the price increase is unrelated to the speed increase. The price increase would have come into effect regardless of whether the speed was increased or not, just like the line rental has been increased every year without any additional value being added.

What physical work except changing everyone's sync profiles on the system have to be done here?

That's nonsense. My line rental has been the same for the last three years. It only increased when Telkom announced its speed increases.

Your ADSL rental may have stayed the same, but the analogue line rental has been increased yearly for the past few years.
