Hi has anybody been having authentication problems with telkom accounts lately? I have found when I enter my account in the router and press apply it just says connecting and then nothing happens. I've tried it with an IS account and then it connects just fine. It also only happens some times not always. Do anybody else have this problem?

No it's not that I've seen it happen with myself and a few customers. I also checked if I've used up my bandwidth but I haven't. Any other ideas?

My Netgear is doing the same but i just click the connect button and it connects... IS account normally connects quick quick.

Can anybody that has the same sort of problem just post to say they do then we can see if it's telkom

Well a SAIX wide authentication problem is happening again at the moment. Invalid username/password on both TelkomInternet and WebAfrica accounts.

Add Cybersmart to the list and any ISP that uses SAIX.
Thank goodness there is actually an alternative like IS.

Was working 10 minutes ago in Vanderbijlpark - however now giving message "username does not exist"

Luckily I am still connected as it seems it will not currently authenticate

Having authentication problems on my TelkomInternet account but thankfully not WA.

Also having authentication issues on both my SAIX accounts. Cape Town.

Couldn't authenticate for about 30 mins. Connected now, eventually.

10215 gives number unobtainable.

0800375375 hung on for 30 mins listening "all our insultants are busy"

Since that last auth problem I have great sync speeds.
My 384 kbps connection is now synced at 3232 kbps down and 640 kbps up. :D

yeah, I get these all the time. I try connecting a few times then usually I get in.

This is so rediculous. Went to a client today who has the same authentication problem. I setup their linux firewall with pppoe about three years ago, haven't touched it since. They're still using the same account. So I phone Telkom. The chick on the other side asks me for the username and password, then tells me the password I gave her is wrong.

So my theory is they had some sort of database damage or something, and accidently lost some of the passwords, they just won't tell. Maybe they're busy restoring from their last backup (although I imagine that's quite a big database to restore) maybe they did restore but missed a couple. Who knows.

Luckily none of our SAOL clients had any issues at all - GREAT!

That could be true Koffiejunkie, phone 10215 a few days ago when I had authentication issues, they asked for my password, I said I'm not giving it, the dude said they've got a system issue, he can't see my password, so I have to give it to him, I declined, said goodbye and waited 6 hours for the connection to work again,

Sooooo, not sure if it's related, if it was a telscum story as usual, but it makes sense comparing your post ;)

teraside, by the sixth hour I would have lost the client. They already believe it is our fault that the line is down.
