Telkom cable break causes Internet chaos

I just received feedback from Telkom: article updated.

I must congratulate Telkom for the quick and accurate feedback – does not often happen with the companies which we deal with.
 
Man... I think i'm going to stay at work late. The internet is fine here but I have this horrible feeling its going to be dead a home.
 
So why is Vodacom 155 down? Too many calls? I want to follow up on an "unrestricted" request that is not happening....

Perhaps not the day to "follow up" anything at Vodacom....
 
This cable break was caused by “contract personnel working in the vicinity” of the underground optic fibre cable.

Nuff said? :D
 
ADSL: Down
Iburst: Darn slow
Vodacom: Not usable
MTN: Barely usable

So much for redundant solutions. Oh well, home time ;)

I used to work at the NNOC. You do get those dedicated ones that work around the clock especially icw network failures.

Hmmmm.... Knew there was a reason I went Neotel!!!!!

Could happen to Neotel as well . . .
 
Just had a phone call from one of our sites who uses iBurst - they can't receive emails.

Told them to wait it out as the problem's not on their email server - but rather a broken cable.

MyBB should be praised for giving me the answers at the right time :D
