Seacom arrives and my adsl speed continues to get worse ????

Before Seacom, speedtest.net to IS Johannesburg was about 340, now it is under 300.

Is Telkom choking the system to make Seacom a non-event?

To boot, Telkom employees on strike shouldn't be downloading as much porn as usual.

WTF is going on?

Well i have a 4meg line, and over the last week, my connection has been really poor as well......

My connection's been giving grief over the last few days as well, both SAIX and IS, but more SAIX.

Speedtest

What are you on about?
Do you work for Telkom and get it for free, or do you not check your speed?

If speedtest.net gives me less than 300 on a 384 local connection to Joburg (<20km), I am sure folks on 4Mb are probably getting 70% or less as well. If you're screwed before you even use Seacom or SAT3, what's the point of testing international bandwidth.

My .com connections are particularly cr@p.

WTF has Seacom got to do with your connection to Johannesburg? Seacom connects Africa to India you bloody moron. Maybe you should take on your ISP.

Telkom Internet working great on my side.

My word, some people like dishing out insults and accusations, when they infact don't know **** what they're talking about!!!

the post had to with connection speed and whether telkom was choking local connections to make Seacom seem like a non-event. I realize Seacom only affects overseas connections.

There is no ISP including Telkom that can help with ADSL performance, try them.

Maybe you should read your post again. It doesn't make sense at all.

And why on earth would my connection to Jo Burg by any means make Seacom look bad and besides, Seasom isn't active yet, most ISP's is still in the testing phase.

Stop talking rubbish and rather give your ISP a call.

Axxess claims IS is nearing completion of switching clients to Seacom, who has already been switched is anybody's guess. They also confirm a lot of complaints of speed problems.

You may recall a complaint late last year that the CEO of Telkom had allegedly slowed down the internet so save money. This wouldn't be the first time. Until I hit my ISP it's Telkom all the way.

Most folks don't want to tracert everytime they visit a site to see where the slowdown is. For me I know i'm screwed before Joburg.

You are seriously mistaken. Have another chat to your ISP.

/how do you slow down the internet?

Did last night.

How do you think they shape accounts. They can mess with packet types, never mind all packets.
